Well, since I haven't made a release thread for this yet, here it is:

Description:
This mod is a slightly modified version of UsAaR33's Demo Manager v3.0. I wrote it because certain demos
crashed because of UTDC while others didn't really look right because of changes in the latest versions
of UTPure.

While I was fixing the UTDC and UTPure issues, I've changed/fixed some small things that UsAaR33 might
have missed.

Changes:
v3.2 beta - build 2007/01/27:
* [FIXED] : The camera would sometimes start shaking for no reason (eg: while ducking)

v3.2 beta - build 2007/01/05:
* [FIXED] : Weaponshow in demos recorded on UTPure7G servers
* [FIXED] : Some issues with the viewrotation calculation. As a result of this fix,
the screen will no longer "roll" while watching someone ineyes in a 3rd person
demo (someone other than the demorecorder ofcourse...)
* [ADDED] : Some minor tweaks to the demoplaybackspec code

v3.2 beta:
* [CHANGED] : Moved the illegal actor destroying routine to the native side (dll)
* [FIXED] : UTDC crashes in serverside demos

v3.1:
* [ADDED] : Option to destroy illegal actors (such as the UTDC native check that crashes demos, see (*) for details)
* [FIXED] : Fixed Scoreboard and HUD problems in 3rd person demos (Pure7G related)

I posted this on polish ut forums and it seems that one person has screwed up his UT because of this, lol. and one guy says that the anticheat is kicking him because of this ... let's wait for some more reports. :D
/ just being curious, and I know that unreal linux compiling sux, and I also know that it's possible now, would it be possible to make a udemo.so ? If so, and if you have time and energy to compile it, I could find time to test it out. /

The original demo manager dll wasn't really written with linux-compatibility in mind. There's also a lot of stuff in it that compiles fine with VC++ but gcc doesn't like it that much. It's not impossible to port demomanager to linux but some parts (eg the UZHandler) will need a complete rewrite first

Yeah portability is a nice idea until it comes to system specific libraries :p . Anyway, nice to see you polished this release off. N1 ;) .

I think I've found something that could be tweaked in the next update (maybe I could do it ?). The pulse gun is shifted downwards whenever it's firing primary. I'll have a look at the standard classes to see how this works.

hey installed demo manager and everything worked fine for awile. i noticed after a bit that on one servers the demos would sorta skip. it would jump from second to second while it played. it would start out fine then when the map started it would start skipping. then today it started doing it for another server. this is makin me angry, i dont think its demo manager but maybe im not disabling the right cheat protection while playing demos??? maybe someone could list everything that i could put in the demo.ini to make this stop happening???

Is this systematic or not ? That sometimes happens with the original demo manager. I think you get this when you view a demo and then go online.

I need some help. Everytime I try to play a demo from a specific player and a serverside one from our server, the demo just freezes if played in first person.
It just shows the first frame, then after one second shows another frame and freezes again. And so on.
Any thoughts? :s Maybe some incompatible files, GOTY/non-GOTY or so.

Thanks. There's not much I can tell straight away except I get some similar accessed nones and missing weapons/meshes sometimes.

Btw, I'm currently experiencing freezes online while autorecording. This will cause my character to get stuck, whether it's on the ground or in the middle of a jump/fall. Other players will see this as sliding probably.

I don't know if this is related to this version of demo manager and will test previous versions to see if there's a difference.

Edit: Seems my system has become slightly unstable with overclocking. It's downclocked a bit now and should work.

Yes. Some of this was already possible in demo manager 3.0 beta :
- To pause, simply enter pause in the console (or hit pause if it has the original bind).
- To go to a certain curtime, the command seekto can be used. You can obtain the curtime by entering "curtime" in the console. Seekto can be buggy though and sometimes stalls UT. There is more reliable alternative command in movie demo manager. I think it uses game time though so its less precise.
- I'm not sure but I think it's impossible to rewind demos due to the way UT handles game sessions.

These and other commands should be detailed in the readme.

I'm having all sorts of problems with this new version.

When I click from the views from player to player, the player that I'm watching is not the player that it states it is at the bottom of the window (Live Feed From .....). Sometimes, it stays the same name no matter who you are watching.

The player that you are watching "flashes" constantly while moving.

In 1st person, all I can see is the end of the weapon. For instance, with the ESR, all I can see is the very end of the gun.

If you're using the enhanced Opengl, try setting ZRangeHack to false. It is stated on the link below that this option "partially breaks weapon rendering".

It's a buggy feature and practically stalls (requiring a ctrl+alt+del) or crashes for everyone under certain conditions. What it seems to do is fastforward a demo very fast hitting up on any possible errors instantly or getting stuck in some sort of loop. For moviemaking purposes what I usually do is have a list of "safe" curtimes in excel that I can use to jump to certain parts of a demo. You're better off binding a key to slomo with something like "slomo 40 | onrelease slomo 1". An added tip is to also change the pause bind to "pause | curtime".

Does this mean it correctly displays the actual ingame time which usually gets completely messed up once you press pause or use slomo in a demo?
That one has been a pain in the ass for me for a long time (especially for recording movie scenes).
If not, what does the "curtime" exactly do in the pause bind?

I'm not sure what is going on but the in-game clock usually desynchronizes when you speed up the demo. For example, you could get a count-down even though the end of match is still moments away. What you could try is speeding up the demo and then bringing it back to normal speed for a while.

As for curtime, think of it as the relative time within the demo (it's a demo manager specific command). It has the advantage of remaining precise whatever you do which makes it suitable for movie-making purposes. It's what I'm using for my movie.

It works better than Usaar's version, and he actually intended to fix it, but as I know him a little, he's: a) graduating again b) found another project (people seems to miss good scripters alot) c) got a life ;)

Tnx m8, was looking for the one usaar released, but this version fixxed som errors, oh, and he usually responds to emails, if you want to talk to him (the cshp and utpure guys can prolly supply you with an e-mail addy, as the one I have are several years old, did some modelconversion ages ago, he always answered my questions, how silly they even where, and even fixxed a script for a model, he just thought it was fun that someone used his tutorial)

even for a yank, his very helpful ;)

Try contacting the author of SmartCTF. The error is taking place in the class SmartCTFSpawnNotifyPRI and the function SpawnNotification.

More than likely not a problem with that function. That function probably ran across an actor that was improperly destroyed, especially if the function was of the foreach flavor.

it's not bugged and it's not random. The autorecorder will only activate when you load the menu. If you start up your game and you go directly to the server (either by clicking an unreal://x.x.x.x:yyyy link in windows or by opening the console and typing open x.x.x.x:yyyy) then the menu won't load. You have to ensure that you press escape first, before you do anything else. Once the menubar shows, the autorecorder is active

I am always getting on the server via Favorites. Always pressing escape after turning UT on to get there, and still it dosn't record every game :////

It is not really a bug but a limitation. The trick Usaar33 used for autorecording will only work under certain conditions. Without this trick, the feature would simply not be available. As Anthrax has explained, connecting to a server via a url or via a shortcut will stop the autorecording feature from working properly.

I suggest the following to ensure that demos are recorded. When you change the recording settings in demo manager, exit UT and start it again. Then connect to a server and type "demorec" plus a name of your choosing. If you get a message saying that a demo is already recording, it is apparently working. Do this each time you change settings. You might want to have a key binded with the demorec command to do some quick testing.

The only improvement I can imagine is to have a clear message to say that the autorecorder is active. Also, Anthrax updated demo manager on common request to fix some issues with that have breaken demo playback. It is originally Usaar33's project. If there is indeed a problem on your side, please trace back the steps that cause autorecording to fail. A log extract would be nice too. It is more helpful than saying that something is bugged.

Are there any logs actuall? I never did check for any :p

UT produces a log whenever it's running. Normally it's UnrealTournament.log in /System. I suppose you have changed the default demo recording driver in your ini :

As for the problem of autorecording not kicking in, this sometimes occurs when you :
1) Launch UT.
2) Press escape.
3) Go in your server browser.
4) Connect to a server.

Correct ? If so, it's up to you to keep an eye out to see when the autorecording feature isn't working. Unfortunately, there's no other way of doing things because we don't have access to your PC.

Not at present. I can't find the exec function that does this. It's probably part of the engine.

You could always try a switch bind where pressing a key changes the bind to another and then another and so on. As for autorecording, I'm sorry to say that I can't help since it could be due to anything.

Could you also post the contents of your udemo.ini file ? I see you're recording demos to a custom path.

Ok. The next time you play online, make sure you have a demorec bind handy to test whether a demo is already recording. Also have a look at your log to see if you have a line starting as follows :

Nothing new you're telling me, coz I know that befor.

I was asking if its possible to check the code becouse its bugged. Or if its possible to do a bind like "Record demo %MapName_%Year%Month%Day___%Hour%Minute"

Now thanks for your time, however don't anwser anymore if you can't help. Hope anyone else will care and know how to fix/deal with it :)

yes, it's starting to happen to me too, i always had auto demorec but sometimes it fails to demo.. anywayz:

me and a lot of guys have an error playing some specific demos, due to anthchecker actors: we've found out that by modeplaying the demo on console (demoplay frag.dem) it plays nicely. many other guys on IRC had that problem, so its not a specific server/ini issues.

Ok, well I'll attempt to be helpful with the very little information there is. I've heard that autorecording doesn't seem to work properly on EUT servers. Do you two happen to play on EUT servers ?

My server dosn't have EUT, and it happens often.

Solved!! but..

the option --> IllegalActors[2]=ACReplicationInfo isn't in the udemo.ini of the zip package in your post. maybe you should update it? :)

yes, it's starting to happen to me too, i always had auto demorec but sometimes it fails to demo.. anywayz:


This may be common knowledge, but NBSP prevents demomanager from operating, and the only error message shows up in-game when trying to access the mod from the menu screen. If you have it set to auto-record there's likely no error message at all.

Indeed. Also, LeagueAS kicks players using demo manager because there's a reference to "oldskoolhack". I think it's this hack that makes autorecording possible.

look in your ini, see if you have a space after the DemoRecordingDevice=udemo.uDemoDriver

I need some help. Everytime I try to play a demo from a specific player and a serverside one from our server, the demo just freezes if played in first person.
It just shows the first frame, then after one second shows another frame and freezes again. And so on.
Any thoughts? :s Maybe some incompatible files, GOTY/non-GOTY or so.

I have the same problem with freezes but is when i try to play a demo that was recorded in server with utdc1.8.
Other demos with utdc2.0 works fine.

Can any1 help me?? :confused:

Look in unrealtournament.log for error message. With one demo I try to play utpure cause a lot of error and it freeze as you say.

It's either caused by vista or by a 64-bit cpu. I'll see if I can fix this.

In 3rd person view everyting is ok with demos, but if try to watch on 1st person, camera is stuck at my respawn point and vibrate :confused:
Any suggestions?

So you are not the one who recorded it.

Grab the Gnat files (http://www.snipermayhem.com/serverfiles/) and place them in your system folder, see if that sorts it.

I was wondering if anyone else has this problem when im watching a demos work fine such as MonsterKills showing in the middle o fthe screen. But when I replay them and Fraps they all dont show in the middle of the screen but up top in the death message the show what im getting at that time. Hope you understand what im tring to say. Also a lot of times while playing back demos it does not show who I killed such as you killed blah blah and ALL of my demos are in slomo when I replay them any feedback would be nice thanks.

Ok, using this one for clientside demos and it works just great.

Now I tried a serverside demo and it works great also.
My only problem is that my server is running 451, but due to different reasons I would like to stick with 436 clientside.
So to watch the demo I need a second UT-installation patched to 451 + all the required files again.

Is there any way to avoid that?
Or do I now just want it too easy? lol

Just copy your 4.36 System folder to say System451 and patch that. It'll save you having two separate installs. You can edit the ini file to point to a separate folder containing custom files used to be used by both versions. I use this approach for all my cache files as so :

Well...the problem I have now is that all serverside demos are crashing - on ACReplicationInfo. One I recorded serverside and clientside at the same time. Clientside plays back fine, the serverside one crashed.

If this happens to 1 of 10 I recorded clientside then fine, but each of the serverside ones crashing makes this useless. :(

This is in my udemo.ini

ACReplicationInfo0 is an instance of ACReplicationInfo so basically they're the same. I've no idea why the actor isn't being killed on serversides.

i want to record a match in 3rd spectate in few server it work very well i can see all the player !
But when i try to record a dmeo in 3rd spectate on my server it dont work well , icant see all the players , when i click for see the other player the view camera is on me and on view mobil camera only i cant see the other players.

hello i can't use UTdemonanager with all versions.... i have UTGoty v436

whan i setting it i got a critical error !

Have you overwritten all the files ? What it's saying is that it can't find a function in the provided dll which might mean it's an outdated version.

The problem come to my server , other guys tryed to record a demo and he have same problem of me , he cant see all the player in 3rd spectate !!

I got that "Critical: FMallocWindows::Free" line in the error sometimes when I accidentally tried to playback with 436 a demo that was recorded in 451.

AnthraX would be cool to get an option that will prevent the auto-recording function to make demos while you spectate.

It's annoying to have demos recorded when you join as spectator only... Something simple where we can tick "Do not record spectator games" would do :)

This was the next item on my todo list for demo manager. The auto-recording problem could also be fixed easily. Unfortunately I don't know when I'll have some time to work on udemo.

I need to watch a demo, but it keeps crashing as soon as I try to watch it in 3rd person mode. With 3rd person box unchecked it plays fine (unfortunately then it doesn't show the player I want to watch)

Ok, found out it was because I installed UT on a new PC, also the demo player etc. but forgot to make the required changes in my UT.ini.

So I did that now, it now says
DemoRecordingDevice=udemo.uDemoDriver

The error from above is gone but now I have another:

try deleting all asc files in your ut system folder or try utcachecleaner3 and type flush into console might help.

Run UT in Windows98 / ME compatibility mode - and the demos play perfect!

For all the SmartCTF_4D fans out there, here's a slightly modified 3.2 demo manager that supports SmartCTF. After installing it you can type "togglestats" in the console to switch between the normal scoreboard and the smartctf board. I also fixed the serverinfo not showing.

I've been working on a new demo manager version in the past few days. Current status:
* Fixed the invisible flag problem in Pure7G demos
* Fixed the UZ Downloader not working/crashing
* Fixed crashes during seeking (using the seekto command)
* Rewrote most of the UZ Downloader class and the udnative class
* Rewrote all platform specific code to platform independant code. Demo manager now compiles on linux but doesn't work yet. There's some memory corruption problem that might be quite hard to tackle.

when on the topic, long time ago, I've been working on udemo GUI. I added the simplest seekto gui implementation (type number of minutes and seconds, it calculates it and seeks to that time on video). I don't have the source now, but if you're interested I could make it again, it's trivial, but usefull imho.

HI Azura And AntraX... i want to ask for few think with MAster MOD DemoMenagr3.2 ...
i know its old Subject but for me still and always fresh !!

how i can seeking to any point in the demo ?
iknow aboute seekto command but this what i remember i can with tis command back to begine of match.. My demos sometimes have 25 minutes i need acction from last moment so i must watch all game and if im fast start recording... but alot times i must back to same moment to record andother perspective .. so like u know this can take ages for make 4 second of movie..

next think its :
-Transitioning between playmodes and 3rd/1st person modes during playback

How i can change view with no go back to DM3 ?.. or how i can setup fast button to this ?


next think its :

want to have a key binded with the demorec command .... Auto Demo rec works fine mostly and even i have ut crasch its not big problem.. but how i can setup button to this ?

im almost sure i can find answer in one of hungreds posts in this subject but maybe u can help me or AntraX ? ..

if i replace files with DM3.2 i lost possibles to play deoms what i rec in past ?.. or this version with no problem can find all casche files textures ect ect./. ?

in DM3 3.2 after 287 recored matches Demomenager 3.2 stop recording.. this happend for me again last night.. :/ ,,, i record on server some nice BIO ACtions but now i see again amount of recordings its 287 .. similar like with Auto Screan Shot.... what is some 250 AUTO Screan Shots what u can have in unreal tournament/system/ its not some BIG Problem but maybe and if some new version of DemoMenager coomin maybe its good think aboute this..

btw i fix my problem with jump to single moment in DEMO .. seekto command with time where i want jump doing grate `jump`..


i have few problems like how hide all system notyfications from Game when irecordin to AVI.? i mean notyfications like :

Blue Word : Pause
or DoUBLE KILL
ect..
one main problem its how in Pauseed GAme i can Fly in MAP in SPEC MODE?

so.. i watch few demos on youtube where some guys Fly Camera around players when game is Paused !!...always i want to know how its possible .. Fly in Map cammera when game is Paused.. this test i maked on game offline only..i dont think its possbible in online gaming.. but we will se.. so.. i rec demo and in some special moment i pause It.. i mean i push pause button in moment when i record me DEMO..
Leter i play that Demo in SPec and i Fly to place where i Record paused game but not stop game... only pause.. in moment when i see on screan in recorded game i have pause moment i push Pause AGAIN in my Demo what i play.. so in this way i can Fly around Player or whatever i want in time when game was paused in Recording..

Not 100% sure what you're after, but it sounds like what you're looking for is "rypelcam". Allows you to make camera trace predifined paths through a demo.

sorry for my english on begin ..
This waht i lookin its exactly how its possible take more perspectives with camera.. buutons what i use are same waht i use in game.. so its foward , back , left or , right... and simple 360` stering..

last night i found some strange think in DM3 .. or its another problem..i make some LOL Actions with BIO Gun but..hm... i Record everythink i saw notyfication from ACE but after soem 2 hour game ill go check my recordings and .. i found there only one file..3 second..so i record nothink..
still i cant now record game .. i see info on screan GAME IS RECORDED and Where.. but after match i dont have this DEM in my files..i dont change location for rec files..
one think waht i change that was line wit redirections .. but i dont think this is cuz this..now i use simple command in console to record.. so i rec wit no problems but like u know .. later after match if u forget type stopdemo lol..

also I notice that udemo utilizes multiple redirect servers to find files :) this is very interesting .... is there a way to do the same thing for normal ut99.ini I wonder...

^_^ that would be a welcome addon for the update elsewhere actually .. I must post there also.

another off topic but relevant thing is. if a texture/map/utx whatever is missing from a server. would it be easy to ammend something so that it looks for the next consecutive files from the redirect?... I think I prefer the mulitiple redirect solution best through :)

in answer to the question from the chappy above regarding uz.www.gameservers.com (they have closed down m8) and Skillz has aquired the files from them and re-located em to uz.ut-files.com :thumbup:

Back then the latest demomanager was 3.0b. Or Azazel (the author) possibly could've used moviedemomanager (not sure if 1.1, but 1.0 was definitely public) as it was already released too (100% sure). But it doesn't really matter which one he used. And yes - rypelcam was the key in this movie.

Also the movie is called Revisionistic, no idea what the youtube uploader was thinking when calling it like that xD

Also in this movie Azazel used movieunreal to record the footage (and he didn't really like the outcome :p) ... which was a new thing for him, because he used Fraps to record footage for his first movie (the phoenix alliance clan movie). He had really cool PC back then and could actually use fraps to record HQ stuff.

i dont know if all but alot gun shots are showup after when i type command to find moment in game.. mostly this happend when i want review scene from late moment of game .. some 500.00000 or similar ..

It looks more like Particle Illusions to me (talking about the lightning effect), but I have never worked with Premiere so I may be wrong. For final compositing you can use pretty much any video editing application such as Vegas, Premiere or even that Windows Movie thingy. And yes, After Effects is great application but it takes years just to become "decent" with it. And once you learn basics of matchmoving you can do literally anything you want :p

i use Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 .. and i must say that program is Very Elastic.. but if u have like me old pc u must prepare for ages and hours of rendering...but i n Premiere 2.0 i think u dont have impossible thinks t o do.. only imagination can block you or me or whatever..
and that guys make taht lighting in 3D software ..

No he didn't do that in 3D application lol. Those kinda things are either pre-rendered or simple 2D effects. Google some Particle Illusion 3 examples and you will see.
