View Full Version : Adding UTDC to Anthchecker

Hi,
I'm not familiar with adding any MD5's or CRC's to Anthchecker.
I've decided to try to run UTDC on my server (v18) along with Anthchecker v1.37 (I can't get the latest version to run on my server) and EUT1_g.
I have been reading up on this all nite and I think I read somewhere that I would need to add UTDC to Anthchecker (I never did EUT, should I?) but I can't find any info on how to do that (along with not being able to find anything on how to set the UTDC.ini and what everything means in that file).
I do know how to add the MD5's to the UTDC.ini file for EUT and AC (that was explained very well in the readme, thanks).
Can someone tell me if I need to do this and how?
thank you,
A|ice

It should be:
bSelfCheck=true
bPureCheck=true
bEUTCheck=true
and
Packages[0]=dll,UTDCv18,255
Packages[1]=u,UTDCv18dll,255
Packages[2]=u,UTDCv18,255
However, I'm not sure if it is ok to check the dll file, as there are 2 legit MD5s in the UTDC.ini for it.

Okay...so when Anthchecker starts up...what do the checks tell it to do (ie: bEUTCheck=true) ? Does it tell itself to check the files on the server or to check these certain files on players who enter the server?

why should anthchecker check serverfiles that makes no sence ;)
anthchecker check these files clientside.

Well....lol...if it made sense to me I wouldn't have asked the q. =P
I guess the "self-check" threw me off. You never learn unless you ask, right?
I don't care if it sounds like a stupid question or not, if I'm not sure...I'll ask. Better to look stupid than to be stupid. :thumbup:

i have a similar problem... when i put the UTDC checking Anthchecker amd i put de MD5 hash it kicks everyone form the server... why?
Azura

Maybe because the md5 is wrong and utdc is set to kick when it doesn't correspond.

I'm sorry...I didn't mean to sound as if YOU said it was a stupid q...but I'm sure other ppl reading it may have thought so. :rolleyes:
Anyway...I just wanted to point out that I'm trying to learn here and even if it sounds to others like it's a stupid q and I should know better...I like to be absolutely sure that I know how things work so I can troubleshoot them myself later. And others coming here to read on how to run a server can also learn from these q's...see?
It seems like I post a lot of q's asking how this or that runs...it not only benefits me but anyone else who comes here looking for answers and has doubts as to how something works.
I know some ppl may feel that their q is maybe something they should already know and are afraid to ask because others will think their q is stupid ...so they don't ask. I'm not that way. I have some experience with UT servers now, but I want to know more! :D
I appreciate all the help from everyone on the board, as I've learned a lot here. Thanks!

You're the server admin, you're the one that should verify what the md5 should be. In the UTDC zip file there is a program called digest.exe which can be used to get the md5.
Also, check the log of the server to see if there's a clue as to why players are getting kicked.

WOOOOoooHOoooooo...does anyone know for sure or not if you put the dll file in for Anthchecker?
thx,

The answer is probably yes since anthchecker also verifies renderers which are also dll files.

Aha! Very good Azura. :thumbup:
BTW, do you run both AnthChecker and UTDC?

Yup, I'm using both with standard settings on a private server and deactivated sound file kick for the public as there's a few players using non-english versions of UT.

Sooo, what would happen if you didn't add UTDC to Anthchecker?

P.S.
Ahh, and what's that 255 on the end for?

The according readme:
Packages[x] : you can manually add files to crc (type 1) check here
syntax: <file extension>,<filename>,<packagepercent (1-255)> (*)
!! Important !!: Due to the limitations of the unreal engine, you're not advised to manually add files.
If you do decide to do so, use a small packagepercent, UT will usually crash after crc checking
10Mb of data.
(*) if for example you want to perform a crc type 1 check on the 10 first bytes of every 255-byte block of CTF-Gauntlet.unr,
you'd have to add "unr,CTF-Gauntlet,10" (without the quotes)

When you download UTDC, DigestFile.exe is part of the package.
You run DigestFile.exe and put the info in there for the file that you want to get a MD5 Hash for.
For instance, if you want to find the MD5 for EUT_1g...you go to your System Dir and find the EUT_1g.u file. If you don't happen to have that in your System folder for some reason, just download the file to your desktop from the Server and run it thru DigestFile from there.
You will see it give you an MD5 Hash for that file. That is the Hash that you use to put in your UTDC.ini file at the bottom of that ini where it says;
Package[0]=
and...
MD5[0]=
for EUT_1g.u it would look like this if you were putting it in the first position...
Package[0]=EUT_1g.u
MD5[0]=6BBB0B190E1260FE9D621282F2E713F3
make sure the numbers in the brackets "[ ]" are the same ones.
That's for UTDC. I'm not sure how to add anything in AC properly...which was why I was asking what the 255 was for. From what iDeFiX posted, I believe its package percent.

Then do it on your home PC, and then fill out the ini correctly and transfer it via FTP to the Server.
