I thought I would let everyone know where KotS has gone.. it has been a roller coaster few days.
You may have noticed we have had to move websites - this was completely out of our control.
That famous SQL worm that spread across the net got KotS badly. It took down all the links to the
database where all the characters are held, meaning both the website and the servers were
unable to communicate with the GDS or database. Once the database was all back up and
running, we thought that was it but NO! The website was still not functional, we contacted
gamespy about this, and they came back and said due to the worm attack they are not allowing
external access to MSSQL databases.This means our site will never work there. So after many years of good hosting
and community
build up we were forced to find a new home. We have been
working on a new and improved
design which will be up when it's completely
translated to PHP.
On top of all that, the latest release (1.4) gave us
more problems, after just 2 days we found a big
problem that crashed servers
- which was thankfully fixed within hours :o) Sadly the 1.4 build
still
hasn't been fully released over the website or on our mirror
locations.
Lastly the whole team would like to thank all of you for
sticking with the mod during the beta days,
and helping us get it right, we
owe you a lot.
