What is AntiNetHack?
This is a server mutator that stops people changing their netspeed
in-game. It will suicide anyone that tries. After a set amount of
attempts it will kick the offender.
It will also kick people for using too low netspeed.
readme:
USAGE:
Settings are set in the AntiNetHack.ini. They can be now set in-game.
COMMANDS:
Mutate AntiNetHack : give some info on settings and player list with netspeeds.
Admin Commands:
Mutate AntiNetHack set MinAllowedNetSpeed N : where N is 2600 <> 20000
Mutate AntiNetHack set CheckInterval N : how frequently checks are made in secs
Mutate AntiNetHack set NetSpeedKickCount N : number of netspeed changes to kick on
Mutate AntiNetHack set BigMessages N : whether to display big messages = 0, 1, 2
INSTALL:
Put the lines:
ServerActors=AntiNetHack21.AntiNetHack
ServerPackages=AntiNetHack21
in your server's ini
Then set up the AntiNetHack.ini:
CheckInterval How often checks are made in seconds. Default 3.
NetSpeedKickCount After how many times does someone get kicked for changing
netspeed. Default 5. 0 to not kick at all, although UTPure
will kick if you are running it.
MinAllowedNetspeed Players with less than this ns will be kicked.
BigMessages Which messages to display:
0 = off
1 = suicides for netspeed change
2 = 1 + kicks

UTPure only kicks after so many changes. This will suicide you and stop the change. There are also a few things like flag glow and no smoke that it takes care of too.

We're running it, and our server.log is filling up with this
ScriptWarning: Checker DM-DarknessFalls.Checker9 (Function AntiNetHack.Checker.Tick:002A) Accessed None
on every map.
What do I put in the server ini file to stop this from being logged?
Suppress=ScriptWarning?
Or is there a more specific reference, or can a AntiNetHackNoLog be made? :)

Damn I thought I fixed those. I will have to have to have a look at it. I've had a request to make the minimum netspeed configurable anyway.

Tickle I think you may be using an old version - there is no tick function in the latest.
Anyway I am currently updating it to kick people without minimum allowed netspeed, so there will be a new version up soon.

Wow, we were running an old one, I guess. It was really small, and didn't even have an ini file. I'll run it and remove the suppression and get back to you on this.
Okay, put the new one in, removed suppression, and I guess you have to have more than one person on the server for it to work, so I have no idea.
BUT, check this out. Suddenly we now have this:

Ok I've just updated to v1.1:
Added option (in ini) to kick people with too low netspeed.
Fixed a bug that would keep counting the netspeed hack when dead and would kick from server if the player didn't respawn in time.

Just tested and am having issues with the NetSpeedKickCount= function not working correctly for me. I am setting it to 1 and it will not work.
It seems to be stuck at 5 changes before it will kick. Will test further for connection and time issues.
Edit, here is some of the log. The mut does not seem to be playing well with utpure. Also I noticed that you have a server package entry but that it does not show up in the mutator list. Are you perhaps missing a file of some sort??

The only problem that I found is when running the DynamicActorLoader which it doesn't look like you are. The actor needs adding to DynamicActorLoader config instead of ServerActors.
I couldn't find any other problem. It may depend on the ServerActor order. Also note that now it will not affect a player when waiting for a game to start. You must have spawned for it to work.

Can you post your server actors/packages here. Maybe another mod is stopping it. Could you test with no other mods running maybe.

Well, Reporting first bug. Seems this anticheat doesn't like SLV or RX cause it causes the fuel cores to become huge neon green square boxs.

I will look at this today. It's most likely the extra anti-tweaks that I put in that do this. I guess an option to turn those off would be the best thing.

Well I have put in a 'ActivateAntiTweaks' setting via the ini and uploaded (v1.4).
I have to say though that I tested this with SLV204 and didn't have any problems with anti tweaks activated.

Well I have put in a 'ActivateAntiTweaks' setting via the ini and uploaded (v1.4).
I have to say though that I tested this with SLV204 and didn't have any problems with anti tweaks activated.
Hmmmm...... I fibbed a little cause I didn't actually test it on SLV but RX and kinda guessed it was a glitch involving them all since it was a common thing between them having fuel cores. It happened on the RB-Rocket-X mutator that runs on ROSEANNE'S FOOLS.
Anyway I might try the new version and let you know how it fairs.

Sorry but this anticheat is kinda strange. After trying your new version it really didn't change anything. Seems that player view weapons would either get really big or very small while carrying them. Also the fule core for RF's particular RB-RX became big green squares.
I just want to be able to keep these guys from comming into my server with a netspeed lower than 8000. I would use PURE but would mess up RX/SLV funtions and hud.
I used the version that was three generations back and didn't get this issue but feel maybe it really never worked right then either.

In order to control the minimum netspeed of a client, you'd need to use a clientside actor which AntiNetHack is not (it runs serverside).

How? I was basing my reply on the initial version of AntiNetHack. Unless you've made significant changes my opinion stands... let's have a look see.
Edit: you have obfuscated your code, so the trip ends here. All I can say is that older versions that promised to revert netspeed changes, did in fact not do that. This is not meant to be offensive, as a side note :)

It has changed significantly since the first version. The code is obfuscated for a reason, but, it makes use of simulated functions I will admit. Also I neglected to say that it should be placed in ServerPackages in earlier versions. That would stop any clientside functions from operating properly.
Right now I have to have a good look at it because it seems to like to kick people from the server even after only one netspeed change.

So your saying the first generation antinethack needed to be a server package. Well that explains that then but did you have a setting in the ini to set the minimum netspeed.
As for the RB-RX you'll need these in your server package:

I was a bit loathe to add it to be honest because there are still players out there that can't get broadband and have to put up with 56k. I don't see why they should be excluded from playing.

I realise some players still only have 56k but seriously who still plays UT99 with dial up. Even if I had dial up I wouldn't dare step foot in a UT99 server cause I would never do well.
I'm mainly talking about these guys who have dsl/cable and lower there netspeed so there harder to hit. Even with ZP its still a pain. I just want everyone to have they same connection to the server so the playing field is more even.

Right now I have to set up a better test server and get back to to coding/testing properly.

Version 1.5 is done and uploaded. I have rewritten the code from scratch and cured some bugs.
Major additions:
Settings can be changed in-game now with mutate commands. You can also list settings and players' netspeeds.
There are big messages whenever someone tries to change netspeed.
There are also log messages when someone changes netspeed.
There is still an issue with the anti-tweaks and RocketXRB so you will need to turn off those anti-tweaks to run that mod. Also this mod will clash with LeagueAssault which uses its own anti-netspeed change code. It *should* work with UTPure but I haven't tested. If UTPure is set to kick (after 5 changes I think) then it will override ANH, if ANH is set for more than 5.

Ok. I've taken out the setting that affected that and re-uploaded. As far as I can see it is one of the anti-tweaks that did it. I could ony see this problem with anti-tweaks on.
You must remember that the server needs a map change after turning off anti-tweaks.
I am seriously considering taking the anti-tweak part out since Azazel has a good anti-tweak package already. What do you guys think?

Yah..... Renaming is always a good idea even if ppl don't cache cause some of these servers admins use free redirects like gameserver.net has. Then they have to go to an adminstrator to remove the other version and that can be a hassle.

Ok I will hopefully be doing an update this week and I will have a look at it. By the way you shouldn't really need AntiNetHack with UTPure since pure will disconnect after 5 netspeed changes.

Ok it seems to be a bug using it on a windows server. I think I've fixed it. Try version 2.0 and let me know how it goes.

i ve installed your V2.0, server start now without crash. :)
but ingame the counter works incorrect:
i change 1x netspeed and get kicked. counter was on 5 in the ini.
displayed 5 x the exploit message in the console.
change counter to 3, 2, i get kicked too after 1x netspeed change, displayed the exploit message 3 ,2 in the console.
so i think the counter is buggy..or?

Sounds like it isn't resetting your netspeed to the original value. I found this a few times when entering with a netspeed > 20000 or sometimes when not respawning. I will have a look later today and see what happens.

btw. can you change the min netspeed to 2500 plz?
netspeed 2500 is standart by clanbase and i have a cb server.

Ok I've set lowest netspeed to 2500 and uploaded (same link as first page). You will probably want to change that in the ini too.
I've been testing on both windows and linux server and the counter seems correct. I can't reproduce the problems that you mentioned. Can you post your ini maybe? Also don't use it on a LAN because it does not work.

the minnetspeed 2500 works well.
but the counter bug is still "active".
1 pic: login on server, switch to admin status, change min netspeedto 2500, than changed netspeed and get kick...

It may be that using UTPure or EUT is affecting it too. I know of problems with league assault that detects netspeed changes which tries to reset netspeed and then gets picked up by ANH as another netspeed change.
Perhaps same problem with UTPure or EUT.
