I see that most or all are housed somewere in USA, so far, ilangame.com seems the most reliable to me.

But does any1 have links for european rental servers or better, dutch rental servers? should result me in good pings :D

Try Jolt (UK based)
https://secure.jolt.co.uk/index.php?page=clanserverinfo.htm

or ClanPlanet (German based)
http://www.clan-planet.de

or GameServers (Netherlands)
http://www.gameservers.nl/

If you find anymore add them to the links and I will put them under the GISPs section - http://www.unrealadmin.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=Web_Links&file=index&l_op=viewlink&cid=1

I rent a server from www.clan-servers.biz

I have found the price and service to be the best out of all the ones I checked out. You can rent a 12 man private server for £90 on a 3 month contract. The main guys - Rogue-T and SIE are almost always online to answer questions and sort out problems.

I would seriously recommend that you at least look at them before making your final decision.

Tnx Obsidian

but i cannot see any server details and it doesn't tell me if i can use any servername i want, with or without the server tag (host)

And prices are for a average hour use, i wanna have my server open for all public and running 24/7, so it's a bit hard to say how many hours there will be used.
Now, when the server becomes "very" successfull, there will be ppl playing all the time, 24/7 so that result in 168 hours of gameplay each week :O and cost me (12 players) €130 / month.... a bit to expensive i say, while i found cheapers....but these are hosted somewere else...far away :\
Personal, i dont really like pay/hour, but just unlimited use and pay each month.

Anyway, im gather some folks around here this weekend and stick our heads down onto this.. :D

If you get chance add them under the links to other sites, under the GISP section
http://www.unrealadmin.org/modules.php?name=Web_Links

Ta :)

The thing is, i want a public server and not a clan server, and there are more GISP's which host clan server rather than public.

GISP's services like Jolt and Gameservers.nl are way to expensive and in my opinion, you dont have much choices.

So far, ILAN Game seems teh best to me, may a quote a bit of the info here (if not, remove it plz)

I-LAN Game has its servers housed in multiple MCI/UUnet co-location facilities accross the United States, and we're growing every day. All facilities have backup power plants and self contained water cooling systems. With connections ranging from 1xOC48 (2.5Gb/second) to 40xOC28 (120Gb/second). We are on LAN with these connections who pipes exceed over 200x the speed of 100BaseTx LAN. These connections run to diverse locations accross the continent. We only have 1 hop to Chicago, 1 to NYC, 3 to L.A., and only 2 to London England.

Server info:

- Full control over your server name. - Unlike some of our competitors, ILan does not restrict the name of your server. We allow you complete access to your configuration files and do not require a "ILAN" tag of any kind, anywhere.

- Public Access - All of our servers are open to the public, unless you want them to be private. Again, you have full control over your server.

- FTP Access - You have unlimited (well, 2GB) of room for your server, so slap as many maps up there as you want.

- Web Admin Access - Through the wonders of Iguana Active Server, Ilan customers can start, stop, and reboot their server in seconds, directly from a web site.

- DNS redirection for your server (upon request) - This will allow you to have an IP, as well as yourclan.ilangame.com.

- Free Phone Support - Ilan provides free customer support, within reason, during normal business hours, and 24/7 email support.

To bad that these service is housed in the US, but what does the line mean that i made bold, what are hops?

And ppl, if you check each link posted here and compare all services which would be the best?
And i have to tell you, im not planning to go for a 'pay per play hour' server, i believe it's hard to tell how many hours will be played and im afraid that i pay every month a different amount of money, depending on the players. In other words, TO MUCH and then you have that GIG limit also :(

Ok, here's what im planning to run *IF* i rent a server (maybe a UT2 server in tha future)

IDOM 3 Team, 12 players max, BDBMV302, only time limited gameplay, not score limit :)

If any1 can advise me any futher, feel free, im open for it

-Tnx.

Hops are basically how many routers you go through on the way

For example open up a command prompt and do
[code:1:5f6409ee82]tracert clarity.jolt.co.uk[/code:1:5f6409ee82]

You will then see how many "hops" you get to Jolt for example and where you route through.

The_Undertaker
13th September, 2002, 08:45 PM
Aha, i see.

Ok, so i did and gives me 8 hops, eh... routers :) and had a avg ping of 44ms
Says, tracert over...blah...blah...blah a max 30 hops, that's standart?

But how do i know the trace route to ILAN Game? or should i just type the www adress?

Just tried www.ilangame.com myself
I would expect that the servers are hosted on the same bandwidth, if so there claim of 1 hop to London isn't right

Correction, it's 2 hops, not 1 :)

and i cannot trace to ilangame.com

"Trace is not recornise as a internal or external command, program or batchfile".

I tried the way you did in the previous posts, but no luck
And tnx for mention that IGL guy :)

But i guess, i should just write a simple mail to Ilangame :)
