Once I have put the files on the drive, what should I do next to initiate the server console in order to get it to work? :withstupid:

My problem with the tutorials is they are very vague to a new server admin like myself..I have run quake, quake2 and half life servers and can configure them with my eyes closed but I am totally lost when it comes to UT.
this is where the vagueness comes in..
@<hidden> off
:10
ucc server %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8 %9 -log=server.log
copy server.log servercrash.log
goto 10
to
@<hidden> off
:10
ucc server DM-Antalus.ut2?game=XGame.XDeathmatch ini=TypeIniFileHere.ini log=TypeLogNameHere.log
copy TypeLogNameHere.log sTypeLogNameHerecrash.log
goto 10
it does not explain the ini=TypeIniFileHere.ini what ini? the default one? I am completly lost as to what to put here. I understand the top line and the bottom line but the ini deal is chinese to me. I would like the tutorial to explain that line as it is the only line that is not explained nor are ini files in general explained. Hell I downloaded the dedicated server software and all with hopes of running a server I just have no clue how to customize it. I will continue to kick it around maybe it will come to me..

sorry must laugh <code>TypeLogNameHere</code> means just that e.g.
startdm.bat:
<code>
@<hidden> off
:10
ucc server DM-Antalus.ut2?game=XGame.XDeathmatch ini=dm.ini log=dm.log
copy dm.log dmcrash.log
goto 10
</code>

Glad someone thinks its funny. Wouldn't be so funny if people wouldn't assume people know everything. I pretty much figured that out now someone has posted a nice tutorial on ini files. Just typing something in then totally skipping the explaination of what was stated isn't very tutorial in nature. Like I said in my previous post I am not a newb to the server world just a newb to the unreal side of serverland so instead of trying to make a joke out of things a simple explaination would suffice. I guess I assumed this place would actually help like every other community I have been involved with and helped in, that assumption was wrong..

At what point is this site not helpful?
[list:dc2c1aabc4][*:dc2c1aabc4]We get no help in working out how the server works
[*:dc2c1aabc4]At the start we got no help in paying for the site, we not fortunately have a good site sponsor (Multiplay) (http://www.unrealadmin.org/banners.php?op=click&bid=3) who is allowing us to use 20+ gb of bandwidth a month
[*:dc2c1aabc4]We all put our own personal time into replying to posts and making tutorials[/list:u:dc2c1aabc4]
I'm kind of at a loss, but then again if your first post had said something like
Cheers for the tutorials guys good work but I'm a bit new and am not sure what the default ini file is, could you add this to your tutorial
I'm sure it would have got a better reply
Maybe instead you should have posted at the official server admins help forums, you can find them here (http://www.ina-community.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=260)
Though you will find there:
[list:dc2c1aabc4][*:dc2c1aabc4]You most likely can't get on, but when you do ...
[*:dc2c1aabc4]Not much official help
[*:dc2c1aabc4]No official tutorials[/list:u:dc2c1aabc4]

freezer: I didnt mean to take the piss or anything and I hope the answer did help. We do work very hard to keep the info on here as helpful as possible. If you look I read all and responded to virtually all questions in the UT2k3 section last night which took quite some time :(
If you could put a quick post together detailing how we could make the syntax in the guides clearer so no one else has the same problem you did it would be appreciated.
