I am new to the admin side but have managed to get my dedicated server up and running. The only problems that I am having are, I can not figure out how to put in the server cdkey, and my server does not show up on the console list for players to choose. I have to give my IP to people so they can connect. Need help.

Thanks in advance!

The CD-Key they mailed you is a Windows-Registry-Executable. Simply doubleclicking it should enter your CD-Key automatically(if you're using Windows 2000 or XP)!

If you're using 98 or ME (which is a bad idea, you should use 2000 or XP!) you have to change the first line in the "UT2003_Server_CD_Key.reg" from

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

to

REGEDIT4

So thats why I had to do it manually.

They could've said so in the email :sigh:

And as for everyone having 2000 or XP, tis a great idea in principle. ;)

Thanks for the advice! When they sent me the key the only atachment they sent was the BAT file! Irequested another one and they sent the REG file!

Nah, Linux is better, but I thought that was a "Windows based" question... So before you use Win98 or ME, it really IS better to move to W2K or XP! However, if you have the opportunity to choose between Windows or Linux, go Linux!
