Wondering if anyone got up the UT3 Demo Server on a Windoze 2000 Server box? Also, does it entail downloading the DX files prior to installation or does the installation already include the files?

I've confirmed that UT3 Demo does not install with Windows 2000 Server. After installing .Net 2.0 Framework, the contined installation of the UT2003.msi file ends with "UT3 Demo only installs on Windows Vista, XP or 2003 Server."

Hmm the UT3 MSI setup.ini has the following .

Win98=1
WinNT4SP3=1
[SupportOSMsi12] ;Supported platforms for MSI 1.2
Win95=1
Win98=1
WinME=1
WinNT4SP3=1
[SupportOS] ;Supported platforms for MSI 2.0
Win95=1
Win98=1
WinME=1
WinNT4SP6=1
Win2K=1
[SupportOSMsi30] ;Supported platforms for MSI 3.0
Win2KSP3=1
WinXP=1
Win2003Server=1
My current attempt to install still ends at the same error message you got. Win2KServer with MSI 3.1 currently. But i'm going to hack away at it gives me something to do. ;-) Not sure what the MSI OS line for Windows2000Server is, these look like just the user version - but i'm sure i can dig that up somewhere...

Well you can force it to install by extracting the MSI file from the exe file and modifying it to ignore the "OS check" and the "run from setup.exe" checks ..... but of course that just gets you another error message.
"The procedure entry point MiniDumpWriteDump could not be located in the dynamic line library dbghelp.dll"
Fixing that - gets you new faultrep.dll not found message .... Not looking good at this point.

However, the discussion regarding the Physics System on the ML and the requirement for PPU emulation, I think, puts an end to the possibility of any game servers running off of Win2K Servers. :evil: Quite a shame I believe.
