Can someone explain high/low pings and redirection to me?

I have a dedicated server running on a T1 and pings seem to be around 100, some a bit higher but it still seems jumpy to me. That is, there seem to be hiccups and it is quite frustrating. I guess I don't understand pings because I thought a 100 ping wasnt too bad. The other problem is with redirection. I am redirecting files but for some it takes so long they give up and disconnect while others download quickly. Is that on my end or theirs. I appreciate any responses and thanks in advance,

Basically redirection allows somone to downlaod as fast as the http server can send and as fast as theyc an receieve

Who is your redirect site. Is it a public site or private site with a fat pipe. Do players need to watch the status of the d/l go all the way to 100%? If so then your redirect may be setup improperly and the d/l could be hitting your server as source.

It is a private site for redirection. However, I use just an IP address for redirection, not an actual website address like http://mydomain.com/Maps. Players don't have to watch it go to 100% when downloading. My redirect path is like this http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/
