I'll try to make this as short and sweet as i can.....

After messing around with the "Dedicated Server Only" install i gave up...no matter what i tried i could not web admin the server only install...so I decided to just install the entire game and run the dedicated server that way....which works fine. I can use the UWeb browser and everything is cool...EXCEPT!....when a match is over, and its time to change to the next map, my server acts like it restarts. If me and my guest/s wait long enough....of course the server restarts with the map next in line to be played. However this wait can be up to 2 or 3 minutes. I realize my server starts up slow because of the machine im running it on which is:

Celleron 466
64mb RAM
Windows 2000 Professional

but i really dont think that the server should shutdown and restart between each map. If one of the players is someone i know, then i explain to them to wait it out, but random fraggers that stagger in think something is wrong and end up just not comming back for the next map. Sometimes it takes soo long that it times out and even i get a "Connection Failed" message and have to select my server from the master list again to rejoin.

Is there something im overlooking in my ini file....or should i create or edit my runserver.bat file to keep the server from rebooting inbetween each map cycle.

Any and all help is appreciated.

BTW....b4 anyone "disses" me for running the server on such a small box.....all i can say is...."Dont knock it b4 ya try it....the server runs flawlessly other than it rebooting between maps.....I have tested it with myself being on the East Coast.....and a player in Utah and another in California....with other than a lil high ping for those players...the game runs perfectly smooth for them.....so their lagg wouldnt be improved even if i were running it on a gig or higher box.....:D

PS..id like to ad that i DO NOT play the game on the Celleron...its just a box on my LAN thats sole purpose is to be a UT2k3 server....has my static IP routed to it......just thought id state that so no one would think im trying to play the game itself on such a low powered box....tks again!

Windows 2000 eats a lot of ram so 64mb is to less, i think you should have at least 128mb just to run the OS, and then the ut2k3-server want some :)
Its better with lots of ram than swapping from the hard-drive, especially when there is a map changing and the server goes down to start up a new map. I tested UT2003 with a P2 350mhz and 192ram and it worked fine but that was on a Linux system. Now I run Win2000 on that machine and a regular UT-Server, but it doesn’t use as large maps and textures as the UT2003 does :gulp:

tahnks for the quick reply.....i knew...and intend on upgrading the RAM...i just set this thing up a few days ago and really wanted to know how little i could get by with....

what bothered me was that the server shuts down and restarts....maybe that is a normal routine that i just done notice on a machine with 512mbs of DDR ram....afterall...my server is only running PC100 64mb DIMM

again...thanks for the reply....but be nice to have a lil more input on just how much is enough.....

PC100 should be enough for a Celeron that runs @<hidden> 66mhz, even if you overclock there is a long way to 100mhz (7x100=700mhz)
I think you should notice a huge different if you ad 128more of ram.
I recommend you to throw in a 256 module because they are cheap now, remember that maybe your mobo cant handle large modules (256)
so 2 x 128 can be better, i have 2 different 256modules and only one of them works on my old mobo, i think it depends if it’s a single or double sided stick ???
