I'm running Linux RH 7.1 dedicated 2k3 server. I have basically unlimited bandwidth but I am having trouble getting my nameservers working. SO... I want to redirect people to dl compressed maps from a "compressed maps" directory from my 2K3 server. Can this be done?

Yes but u have to run an http server (apache) that people can connect to from the outside.
[IpDrv.HTTPDownload]
RedirectToURL=YourIp/Directory/Where/You/Put//The/Files
ProxyServerHost=
ProxyServerPort=3128
UseCompression=True
I haven’t tried it on my Linux 2K3-Server but have done it before on a Winblows UT-Server, it must work even better on a Linux box :D

Yep, I've done this on my lan running under Mandrake 8.2. As mentioned, running a http server is required. If U want something smaller than Apache U might consider thttpd:
www.acme.com/software/thttpd/
I set it up once and it seemed to work well. Even though U have "unlimited" bandwidth, thttpd has a mechanism in place to throttle the download speeds so U can control bandwidth utilization.
