Hardware Needed

I have looked at the FAQs and couldnt find a recommended Server Speed and RAM size.

What will I need. I am thinking about setting one up on a PII450 with 328meg of RAM.

Will this hold out wonderfully? OK? Not a chance in HELL? :withstupid:

RAM sounds fine, processor sounds borderline insufficient, but might still be ok... I've run a 8 player max 2k3 server on my P3-550MHz with 192 MB RAM (under Win2k, no less... Linux should be better cuz the OS isn't such a damn hog) and it was fine. The usual hangup with the slow server is when changing levels... Make sure to have redirected downloads, make sure you run _nothing_ else on the server, and make sure you keep a sensible max player cap, and I'll bet it'll work fine for most of the time, with the occasional hiccup when everyone blows themselves to bits at once playing instagib.... ;)
