First.. I get this when I do ./update
[scsiman@<hidden> updater] ./update
Searching for installed products... done!
ERROR: ut2003_dedicated not found, are you the one who installed it?
and two...
[scsiman@<hidden> updater] ./loki_update
Searching for installed products... done!
ERROR: Interactive updates require X11
Someone tell me what these mean?

tell the ./updater WHERE you installed ut2003
for eg: ./update /unreal2003/
should be logical when you know how linux thinks :withstupid:

run what ?
the updater searches for patches etc. when he finds one he automatically updates your system with the appropriate patch. all you need to do, to be on the paranoid side is to restart the ut2003 server or if you wish you can reboot

great i love to c the linux community grow
ok: so you say everything is patched
-> the entire directory should run as a user who has no shell script rights
eg. ut2003 shell /bin/false
otherwise the bad wolf might try to run unwanted scripts on your server
-> dont allow too many users to log on i HATE laging servers
-> run this from the command line
/unreal_directory/ucc server DM-blablabla(map)?Translocator=(True or False)?Gamestats=True?AdminPassword=(you decide)?AdminPassword=xxx ini=/unreal_directory/System/UT2003.ini log=filename.log -nohomedir
the ? are mandatory
the unreal_directory you should know
the AdminName and AdminPassword you need if you want to log on to the webmin to administer your server via web
you can also run a startup script allthough i had difficulty because when i stopped the server then the daemon continued running
type in # top in the console an you see whats running
here is a website with tips and tricks
http://www.unrealadmin.org/modules.php?name=Sections&op=printpage&artid=7
good luck and let me know when its up and running so we can kick ass :D
