Are you running UT in compatibility mode or with an account that doesn't have administrator privileges?

Erm, im not actually sure, i just open unreal on my computer, press esc, then click on Multiplayer >> find internet games >> deathmatch and go in to a server (ive tried the usual ones i play on, and other ones, keeps throwing the same error :-( )

After my brother messing about, he came up with a soloution, shall post it here incase anyone else has this problem.

before opening unreal, right click the icon, and go to properties, then compatibility," run this programme in compatibility mode for :" selected, " windows 95" - and below that, i ticked the box that says run this programme as an admin - and sorted - :)

now time to kick butt ! lol
