Well, I'm pretty sure its the same :)

I patched to 2166 on my server the other day and, when I attempt to launch a LocalLog game, I get a Segmentation fault. I sent the information to HellRaiser and he indicated in a brief note that he has experienced the same problem and is looking into it.

This didn't surprise me, given the advance warning El_Muerte gave some time back. But it was a little depressing. HellRaiser and folks like him put in a ton of under-appreciated effort to make something work that Epic should have had working to begin with (that is, local stats with bot enhanced games). Then, without doing thing one to fix it, they do *something* to break the workaround HellRaiser built.

The paranoid part of me thinks it was intentional: not directed at HellRaiser's mod, necessarily, but at anyone who would attempt to log stats for bot-enhanced games. Thankfully, the rational part of my mind kicks in and I recognize that it was most likely some "fix" that Epic had to apply.

Anyway, for now my server is stats-less and shows up in the regular game listings (Deathmatch, Bombing Run, and CTF games). Hopefully the problem is easy to spot and fix, and HellRaiser will have a patch for us shortly.

v1.01 Done. I've sent the new version to anyone who e-mailed me about the problem, and I've sent a copy to ut2003stats.Soundforge. Expect it on UT2003HQ soon in the view uploads section.

I received the v1.01 update, installed it, and was back in business! Had a great game right after restarting my server, too :D

Thanks, HellRaiser! Best of the Christmas season to you!

By the way, and pretty much totally off topic: I run a UT server, and I'm probably at best an advanced novice player. Nearly everyone who plays on my server can trounce me in a heartbeat. I'm wondering how many UT server admins are like me- not the greatest players, who run their servers at least in part to give the "great" players a place to play.

Nice OT post, Papa! :gulp:

There was a time when I could play pretty often and make a mess on many servers (most especially my own ;) ), but work has sucked away a vast majority of my gametime, and now I'm nothing more than a server admin and an easy target... :) I keep the server and clan running to keep in touch with my buds, mostly. I like to think of it as a responsibility of every dyed-in-the-wool gamer (even semi-"retired" ones like me) to take full advantage of the resources one has available to make more fun for everybody. And hey, I may get some time to play again one of these days, I suppose. If so, I'll have a damn good server to hop on!
