Nice Work, I have been waiting for this to come out.

Now, only if we can get the Entire Server log to log into individual logs for each map. That would be sweet!

But very nice work man :)

I'll look into speeding it up. It may be because it checks the player list every tick to find if anyone new has joined but I'll look into it.

Ive streamlined the code a little. If you want to try it : http://www.unrealize.co.uk/cgi-bin/downloader/dl.pl?id=ServerLog.zip

Let me know if its any better

Hey ~V~,

Is there any way you can put this in a never ending logs by itself? (instead of having 1 log per map) ???

If you could do this, I would love you. :P

Unfortunately the actor is killed off between maps, so its not really possible.
Sorry.

Just an update for the readme.

I converted the logs for use with MS Excel, successfully. The only thing I had to do to get them to be in seperate coloumns and rows, was 'save as' .cvs and ANSI as the encoding, if you left it at Unicode, it would put all the stuff in a single "block".

This is a nice mutator, for keeping track of players. Especially the trouble ones.

Just a question though. I see how you can set to log this to a seperate log, have you ever tried this with externally logging chat?

You can import logs into Excel?

Besides the normal Copy and Paste??

Yes, just open the log in notepad, and "save as". Then change the extension as .cvs, and change the encoding to ANSI.

Forgot to mention that this is for the ServerLog mutator, not the actual server log.

have you ever tried this with externally logging chat?

I did this with xconsole so it is possible. I could make a server mut to do this if ppl would find it useful(?)
I thought that were already some chat log server muts out there?

Yes, they do have some that log the in-game chat, however all except one logs to the server.log and the only one that logs externally is for Windows only.

Dang, almost forgot; A friend of mine wanted me to ask you if it was possible to add a feature to the current ServerLog, to where you can select what gets logged and what doesn't.

All he uses it for it just name/ip and he doesn't like having to remove the port, netspeed and uid. It's no big deal I don't think, but he wanted me to ask ya anyway, so I did. :)

OK I'll look into doing both these soon

Hey ~V~, not trying to rush you or anything, but can we get some sort of update on the progress?

~V~

I've made the leaner version of the serverlog actor, but a full featured chat logger will take some time I'm afraid.

Nice, I will test that baby out later tonight when I get home.

As for the chat logger, I've waited 4 years, what's another gonna hurt? :) Thanks just the same though, you, in my book, rock!

ok, I just looked in my Serverlog Folder, and since 3/20/2005, I have 6,313 logs from this mod.

Very Cool.

But, this is my problem.

I need a Mass Converter from Log to CSV? Does anyone know if this exists??

Also, if I have 6313 CSV Files, is there a way to combine all 6313 logs into 1?

Oh please Oh please Oh please something answer this with a good solution :P

I have a simple PHP importscript which adds them to MySQL.

Can I please have it with instructions? I'm a n00b with php and Mysql. But I'm desperate to get all these thousands of logs into 1.

Hey Skillz, try AKAv6K, it combines everything in 1 log and have the time they last played ;)

I'm not sure why you are telling me that. Does AKAv6K record the in-game chat? If not, then I have no use for it.

No, but neither does ServerLog ;)

Well, nothing gets past you now does it.

If you'd read the entire thread, you'd see that ~V~ is going to make a mutator that will do that, when he gets the time to, but thanks for the offer.

Hey Skillz, try AKAv6K, it combines everything in 1 log and have the time they last played ;)

Yes it does however, I ran AKA for a while and I found that as time passed it really started to lag the server, I think because it looks through the whole list of names everytime it adds to the list. I was running both for a while an while I was very happy with AKA besides the lag, it just got to be to much for my liking.

Then use AKA6KLog.

Its the same AKA, but we fixed the logging option to where it optional.

Right now, I have it OFF, and it only logs in the AKA.ini

I have a 30 Man Server that is full constantly, and I dont have any problems.

from the ServerLogLean readme:

Logs players joining server in format <name>,<ip>

does it also keep track of ppl who join the server, but then change their name?

No but I can make it do that if it's more useful

Nice. I've added the script into the (lean) zip file with props to Piglet, instructions and links to these posts in the readme.

To do: compile 2k4 and unlean version to track players who change names. Don't know if coding works with the linux version of 2k4 yet...

I know this response is way to freakin late, but UTvote has chat loggin built in. I'm responding to this old thread just in case someone does a search and wants to log chat.

~V~
8th June, 2006, 07:20 PM
This isn't a chat logger. It logs IPs and nicks and, in the 2k4 version, also logs ID hashes.

This thread may be old but I'm still alive and kicking (just).
