Official Website (http://asc.wharthog.com/)

>IMPORTANT!< - If you run multiple servers from one system directory, please download the ASC760LS release, found in the downloads section on the ASC website!

What's New?
============
This release is mainly for bugfixes.
Bugs in the team balance code have been totally eliminated by reverting to the old way of doing it. Also an exception has been added to the respawn protection so that if you are carrying a CTF flag, you cannot be protected.

ATH Server Controller User Guide :
===================================
A user guide has been packaged with the zip file.
It is suggested that you tell your clan members, semi-admins, etc etc to read it.
It will help them in finding settings and performing actions.

Alternatively, you can also simply tell them to view it on the web at:
http://asc.wharthog.com/tutorial

FEATURED ADDITIONS:
==================
(all of these can be enabled / disabled from in-game)

Separated Death Messages!

Anti-Spam System!

Lots of features, I won't take the entire page to explain - but you can read the README.TXT, and also the changelog explains a lot of them.

Have fun everyone!

NOTE: If you already run the AKA mutator, you'll need to remove it from your server before adding the custom version found in the ASC760 files.

CHANGELOG
version 758:

This mod sounds neat. So, if I understand things correctly, it adds several layers of player priviledges. If so, I can see a few admins of public server wanting to install this.

hi,

can you explain the Slot- Feature please?
I`m very confused.
I set the server to MAX:7 and the LVL1:6 and LVL3:1
6+1=7 :-)
I thought, now can join 6 LVL1`s and 1 LVL3.
But i`m wrong...,why?

greets wesel

You are not "thrown" into your slot. If you enter the game you will stay in a public slot, making only 5 other slots availible. To use the 1 extra slot you made for lvl 3, you have to have a FULL server already (6 players). Now if you have level 3, it will give you the extra slot. If not, well... then it will give the "server full" error.

And anyway a new version will be publicly released.... you might as well wait a week until the official release of the next version.

hey man. that's an interesting little bugger there eh? lol what mods/gametype are you running?

Anyway... I will package up ASC 740 for you in literally 5 mins.... got to write a readme... the developer didn't lol.

OK well, I'll be back soon!

You can just try this new version... see if the bug still happens.

See you all in a bit.

hi,

is it possible to disable the chatspam protection?
many ppl get a kick of the spam protection but they does not spam.
Only repeat like: wEaPoN dropped ...

Another question.
Can you code a ASC lite :-)
Only with the reserved slot and ASC kick/ban system.
That woluld be very nice!

Hey man. I'm not the coder for ASC... Mickaël DEHEZ is (EDIT - Now I am lol). I publish the readme and advertise, because his English isn't that good lol.

I will pass on your suggestions!

Remember that you can turn most features of the ASC off, besides the spam controller (I'll let him know about the suggestion, you're not the 1st to mention it :P)

The file itself is already very "lite".. only around 250 KB. If you mean features wise, I don't know... I'll ask the coder. He is usually very busy, so I can't say whether or not he'll want to make and maintain 2 versions.

But I'll pass this post along to him.

Hi,
i mean the features!
the reason why i asked for a lite version is, many players from my server reported big lags since I installed ASC.
When I deinstalled asc, the lags also disappeared.
So i think to many features caused the lags.

I contacted him this weekend about all of it wesel.

He has new plans for stuff.....
ASC 8 will be the next version to come out... ASC7 is done, will only have small bugfixes if they are needed, as he will be working just on 8.
You can expect it in mid-april.

Some planned new features:
Mute Players (Like Easymute by Rush)

Spam Mute (the solution to spamming, will mute players for configured amount of secs after they spam. CAN be disabled)

Lite? He didn't give me a straight-out answer on this. It sounded like a no, due to the lack of coding time he has. Hopefully he will consider it though.

That's all.

And on the lags....
Are you hosting from a home PC, or a pro hosted game service?

cool.. got some newly published info from Mike:
firstly, a little thx to matt for publishing and installing asc7 on some forums/servers. it probably gaves us the envy to continue, not sure.

what's new in 8 ?
- no more level, only some rights and individual accounts (see semi-admin)
- no more fake limit, th server will indicate the real limit of public players.
we will implement something in the engine to let vip enter the server even if its full.
- th spam protection will mute instead of kicking, it will check also voice taunts.
+ player redirecting service.
- less message...
+ new binds : balance teams, reconnect, b spec etc...
+ you will be able to dis/enable all asc components (include the a-spam)
+ some new chat functions (and yes a PM system...)
+ a kickidle, based on player's location, so no more people just hiting their mouse to stay on. Plus it will depends on how we will code it, but it could be
also an anti-camper, not sure.
... and a lot of idea i forget.
We were thinking about include a mapvote, it is a big part though, so ... not sure.
We will start it during april.
I think you have also many ideas, tell me what you think.
I don't even know what he means by half of that stuff... but when I learn I will keep you all informed lol.

A couple of suggestions for new functions:

- Custom gametypes, each with their own set of mutators, number of players, tournament mode, all those other settings.

- Option to load a default setup if the server has been empty for some time.

many players from my server reported big lags since I installed ASC.When I deinstalled asc, the lags also disappeared.

I finally got around to try ASC. It is very useful and I would love to keep it, but unfortunately it causes lag. Quite a lot in fact. Also the spam kicker is annoying. But I will sure test version 8 if it is ever completed.

Matthew
3rd May, 2005, 10:03 PM
Wow that is very odd actually - we don't have the lag issues.

Well anyway, there are things you need to be informed about:

1. The coder, ATHoS left UT. There will be no ASC 8.
2. I have taken the project over with permission, and have been given the source.

So what is in the future?

I have already got a new release out - but another is coming soon, so wait about a week :)

Features:
Anti-Spam REMOVED (we all HATED it lol!) - It will automatically mute players for a few seconds if they spam enough times.

A very cool SEND PLAYERS TO IP command. We use it to clear out servers before clan matches, etc. The level 6+ user types in an IP to send all players to, and hit the button. The clients then recieve the IP and open a connection to the new server.

I am truely a horrible coder, so I am limited in what I can do. But if anyone would like to assist me :D

I will see if maybe this version will help out the lag issue. The problem is - the ASC is constantly communicating with the clients, and that can cause some lag on populated servers. One thing that could help is turning FRAG RECOVERY off. Frags are saved about every 10 seconds, on the server side, and so every 10 secs all players have to send back that data, which could cause issues.

On a final note I will see about creating a "lite" ASC - that will only contain the basics such as the LEVEL KEYS, tournament mod controls, and the ASC booter.

I think the ban feature is worth a mutator by its own.

I had frag recovery off, because I have tried the Phoenix mutator that does the same, but if you leave the game with say 20 frags and then come back, UTStats will record 40 frags even if it says 20 on the hud. Not sure if ASC will do that, but Phoenix does.

Oh and by "lag" I ment skipping.

ok - our servers have UTStats and ASC and the Frag Recovery feature doesn't duplicate stats I believe.

hmm and skipping - on player joins?

PizzaMan
3rd May, 2005, 11:39 PM
It was skipping at random all the time. I can live with a bit of choppiness on player join, allready got that from the anticheats. That is totally different though, more like a short pause in the game, not skipping.

I dont think I skipped, but I saw a lot that did. I have a decent connection though, so if ASC is a bit heavy on the network, then I wouldnt be the first to get problems from that.

Matthew
3rd May, 2005, 11:46 PM
I really don't know then.

As for network though, I used ASC734 went I was on 56K (yes, that is old skool DSL for all you broadband junkies :P), and even on a modem line I didn't get any choppyness, and nor do I now on 512k down 256k up DSL. I haven't ever heard of that problem either. I can/will look into it.

My sister has had some (minor - sorta) medical problems over the last few days and is going into a complicated surgery on Wed. - so I'm sorry but for a few days here I'll be a little busy and can't quite fullfill what I said I was going to. I'll see if maybe next week I can be around (praying that all goes well).

PizzaMan
13th May, 2005, 10:56 AM
The hex edited version still causes a tiny bit of skipping on my servers, allthough a lot less than the original one. I think it is limited to on player join now.

Found a problem when using mapvoteLA12 to switch mutators/classes: ASC seems to prevent LA12 from changing the mutators (only tested with the hex edited one).

Mayhem
13th May, 2005, 12:46 PM
when you connect asc will check all your login and the asc settings (like Tag protection, if you are banned, checks the Slot settings and see if you can be there or not, etc.)

all the settings that you configure in asc window will be checked when you join

the setting that cause more lag that sould be disable is the Frag recovery but off course will still be checked if is enabled or not on join

plus there are functions like scorekill and preventdeath that are always active that are related to frag recovery enabled or not

when i hex edited it was more to disable some things, annoyed things. not killing functions (except antispam)

Matthew

hey guys I've got an official release of ASC that has removed:

All Logos/Graphics
Spawnkill Protection
TeamKill Protection
Frag Recovery
ASC hud messages (all messages will appear in chat area - not below as well)

I'm just in bug-testing (beta) now but I'll get a release out for you guys soon. It is very basic, with just ASC bans, kicks, level keys, and tourny modes. I hope it removes the lag for you - and if not there are more things I'm sure we can take out/edit.

OK so here is what the future holds:
Plans for ASC744:

Level 3+ may PM any player in the game with a pop-up window with 4 lines of messages (if you have ever been given a level you know how the window opens with a message...)

Level 5+ may broadcast a message over the ASC HUD (silver text appearing on the top-left of screen, underneath chat area)

I know very little about Pure, but I will try to figure out why it pops behind the HUD in PureRC7 (any expert help in Pure would be appreciated)

You dont need Phoenix, ASC has its own frag recovery.

Matthew
9th July, 2005, 01:37 PM
No issue with MapVote LA, sorry. We've had about 3-4 servers that run it just fine.

Also you said it didn't let you start pheonix - did you put it in the ASC booter, or how did you do that? What you may want to try is a normal config with the ASC booter turned off, and use MapVote LA to control your mutators.

And also yes, frag recovery is in ASC (though not it Lite versions).

I guess the only reason I can think of that it would cause lag is if the server's bandwidth was pretty tight. You aren't hosting on a home PC or anything I hope?

Well sorry all this is my last post --> on a week vacation until late Friday night.

ASC 745 Finished.

http://asc.atomicunreal.com/releases/ASC745.zip (http://asc.atomicunreal.com/counter/click.php?id=1)

Will be added to top post soon, hopefully. Look for 'LITE' edition in another day or two.

This one has taken me a lot of time and has many fixes/additions/changes.

Main reason to upgrade is a fix to a bug that was reported to me. It allows for any player to perform a simple command (obviously not going to say how to do it) that will crash the server instantly. All old versions of ASC are effected, and need to be upgraded ASAP to patch the vulnerability. This is very serious, I cannot stress this enough.

Also new built-in Kick Idle Players V2 suppport. It works with the ASC to provide a wonderful new addition. It will NOT kick level 6 or level 7 players, as they might be working on something on the server and are not, in fact, idle at all. You can enable & config this feature in the ASC7.INI file.

http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/3156/kickedidle5jh.jpg

See the changelog for other new features such as the ASC HUD text message posting, as well as new "!" commands.

version 744:
==============
[Fixed]
- Bug which would allow any client to crash the server in tournament mode.

[Added]
- KickIdlePlayers2 is now integrated into the ASC, and its options may be changed in the ASC7.INI file.
This will not kick anyone with level 6 or level 7, in case they are busy doing server configuration, etc etc.

[Changed]
- Spawn protection now only protects the person that is spawning.
Older versions would protect a player FROM a spawned player, as well as the other way around.
Now this is a one way system, and only the player that just respawned will be protected.

[Changed]
- Simple grammar changes, spelling issues.

[Added]
- New feature allows those with level 3+ to post a text message onto the ASC HUD (underneath the chat area).
This feature is mainly to grab player attention, as it won't be over-run with spam from the chat area.
If you are a level 3+ spectator, you can send a message using this and it will bypass the MUTE SPECTATORS function as well.

[Added]
- New commands:
For Players:
* !play (or !player)
* !spec (or !spectator)
These commands take a player from a spectator slot to a player slot, or vice versa.

Your ASC7.INI seems to be quite alright.

I assume you just took out ASC from the server's INI. If not, then just remember you have to add ASC to the INI :)

OK well here is what I ask you to do:
Please start your server into a totally stripped mode (no actors besides ASC, no mutators). Check and see if frag recovery works.

Now add your other server actors. Make sure pure is at the bottom. Check and see if it works still.

Now add your mutators one at a time, and if frag recovery stops working, then you'll know why  (and also then I can do some investigation as well....)

The FragRecovery tracks you by IP address. The only thing I can think of at the moment is that your IP is somehow maybe not getting picked up correctly? Try getting a friend to come in and play for a bit, then have him reconnect, and see.

iDeFiX
17th August, 2005, 12:45 PM
Just curious...

What if 2 players with the same IP join as it happens alot on our server?
Isn't it better to do recovery matching name and ip?

Matthew
17th August, 2005, 03:27 PM
2 players with the same IP have their frag counts switched every time one of them kills someone. It isn't good, and I've always wanted to find a better way, however name with IP tracking would probably be the only practical solution....

SkullKrusher
17th August, 2005, 09:34 PM
why not sort it by player ip and port # those will not match regardless of 2 players using the same ip ????

Matthew
17th August, 2005, 09:36 PM
this is true, but if a PC freezes, then it would reset when restarted

Matthew
17th August, 2005, 09:37 PM

Matthew
18th August, 2005, 02:07 AM
Hmm yes network name is perfect. How would one detect that? Some of you advanced coders know how to do that?

iDeFiX
18th August, 2005, 11:31 AM
Gathering computer name needs native coding (a dll on windows, like UTDC).
Isn't that a bit too much for frag recovery? That's why I suggested ip+name...

afaik = as far as I know ;)

there will be a lot of duplicates, for eg DELL or OEMCOMPUTER

AnthraX
18th August, 2005, 01:25 PM
IP-Computername would be a nice combination but then again, fragrecovery isn't really that great. I've thought about implementing it in one of my private mods but it'll break so many scoreboard/hud mutators that you'd better drop it

LeeBe
18th August, 2005, 02:41 PM
I use Phoenix which works well for me, it has 4 modes

Mode 1 - checks player name only (case insensitive)
Mode 2 - checks player IP only
Mode 3 - checks player name *or* IP (either must match)
Mode 4 - checks player name *and* IP (both must match)

PizzaMan
18th August, 2005, 03:27 PM
I use Phoenix which works well for me

Phoenix does not work with UTStats.

If you leave the game with 10 frags and then come back, UTStats will record 20 frags, ie. it doubles your stats score every time you reconnect.

AnthraX
18th August, 2005, 03:36 PM
exactly what I mean, lots of mods store local copies of some score values (frags/deaths/flagcaps/flagpickups). Frag recovery would only work if the mod would restore the values of all variables in every actor that a playerpawn owned before he disconnected. The idea is nice but it's only realistic when you're running a standard server without a single scoreboard/stats mod on it

Matthew
18th August, 2005, 05:00 PM
I don't know why, but UTStats and ASC frag recovery work just fine together....

Mini-Update
==========

This new ASC 746, and it just adds the ability for admins with mutliple servers to redirect players when the server is full/passworded to another separate server. You are able to write your own custom message to display to the player. If the server is full, they can either be redirected, or spectate. Same for passworded. The button the player has to confirm is easy to customize. You may enter an IP only, and IP and port, or a UT game password (eg. 111.159.19.1:7777?password=test)

This feature can be turned off or on in the ASC7.INI file.

SERVER PASSWORDED

http://img347.imageshack.us/img347/5253/passworded0oz.jpg

Also, you may use this to redirect players from an old box to a new one. Set all the slots (level 1, level 3) to 0, then MaxPlayers to whatever. This will then pop-up the redirection window. You can see this feature in action at one of my servers which has moved to a new box (67.19.158.249 (unreal://67.19.158.249:7777)).

The ASC adds lag to servers because of frag recovery. Even if it is disabled, the lag still exists.

I have corrected the issue inside the ASC. The problem was that even if frag recovery was OFF, the frags were still being saved, taking bandwidth. I've added an IF statement that will make sure the functions do not execute unless frag recovery has been set to ON.

Sorry for the issues.

Expect to see the ASC747 rather soon, I hope. I was planning to release a good while ago, but every time I am about to, I think of some other thing that should be added :P

ASC 747

// Fixed
[Fixed] Some issues with skins when chaning teams.
[Fixed] Frags used to be saved even if Frag Recovery was off, resulting in lag.
[Fixed] Players from same IP used to switch frag counts when recovery was on.
[Fixed] Some issues inside of ASC booting.
[Fixed] Problems with the banning system.
[Fixed] ASC server key generation was screwed up.

// Added (and there is a lot... I can't remember it all):
[Added] Easy UTDC Shots (easy GUI way to send UTDC shot commands) (can be disabled).
[Added] All new Private Messaging System (can be disabled).
[Added] Ability to mute players individually or all players (Rush - used with permission).
[Added] Entirely new ASC ID banning system.
[Added] All new page for level 6+ for advanced ban management with ASC & UT server's IP configuration.
[Added] Auto-Notification of new ASC versions (can be disabled) (code help by AnthraX).
[Added] Options to remove both HUD messages and HUD images (looks like 'lite' versions).
[Added] Level 6+ can send a single player to a specified IP by selecting their name off a player list.
[Added] ServerInfo button - gives player info on the server (admin name/e-mail, server name, ASC version).
[Added] New options for organizing teams.
[Added] '!update' command - gives level 7 info if any new ASC versions (new version number & download URL)
[Added] ASC7BANLIST.INI file which holds all bans of player ASC IDs.
[Added] Every time a player connects, the server will post info about them to server's log file (name, asc id, ip).
[Added] Support for modified AKA (more about this below...)
[Added] BlockList for clients with the PM system.
[Added] Option for showing a player's level on join (eg [7] MSuLL or just MSuLL)
[Added] bAutoFixCrash - if the server is screwy (such as the map prefix and gametype don't match), server reboots.
[Added] Advertise option - appends [ASC] to the server name if enabled.
[Added] New KickIdlers options.
[Added] A new message on the client HUD every time the controller opens, which helps on Pure servers to notify a player when the ASC window has opened on their UT desktop.

// Changed
[Changed] The GUI has been cleaned up a bit.
[Changed] The old banning system was removed.
[Changed] New ASC logo (designed by Crash).

|| AKA Actor ||
Mayhem and I modifed the AKA mutator with permission from TheCatcher (Steven Yaeger). This version of AKA logs player names, IPs, and ASC IDs. This method makes it easy to find a player's ASC ID if it is ever needed. Besides adding this, some other features have also been added (changed to a server actor, some other stuff....).

I've been working on this since August, so I hope all the work is worth it in the end. I plan to release after I finish up a few things which still need tweaking - but that should only be a few days.

*** A BIG thanks goes out to Mayhem, who came up with a lot of this code, or helped me out with my own. I cannot thank him enough! ***

Matthew said it'll still be a few days until he finishes tweaking things. Patience ;-)

As a beta tester, I can tell you it'll be well worth the wait. The easy UTDC shots (without needing adminlogin) and the new ASC ID ban system are just *awesome* -- and with the new AKA, an ASC ID ban can be easily applied to a user by editing the asc7banlist.ini file. And these bans are much harder to get by than the older pre-747 ASC bans and/or simple IP bans.

Matthew,

First, I love your mod. I would never run a public server again without it.

But I have ONE request to ask of you. Can you make it possible to disable the !TEAM command? I run a BT server, and having balanced teams isn't necessary...instead of !team helping, I find players abusing it.

It would be GREAT if you could make !TEAM an item that could be disabled thru the GUI (or even just thru the INI if that's easier).

Thanks!!!

hi

thanks for the great work we used the asc controller for two dedicated servers and it seems to work ok after the upgrade.

remarks: a little advertising  ? for [ASC] i see in my server advertise line?that i cannot control?
: if boot ASC is temporary disabled then you have to modify the ini file to put the mutators in they are lost when disabled

our server 62.194.161.136:7778

Matthew
4th December, 2005, 08:18 PM
Advertise can be turned off in the INI (change: Advertise=0).

The ASC boot functions should stay around. Make sure that when you disable the booter, you only disable 1 option (Boot the server with ASC, the first checkbox on the top). Then hit update/save. To then reboot your server with no mutators will require you to stop and restart it.

Also on another note I think you mean port 7777, not 7778 (7778 is a query port)

Show if a player is banned on an new ASC id tab

Figure out why you can't switch to gold team or green team during CTF4 match

-- All finished with --

* Recode the ID system to make it about 100 times less hard on the server by processing the info more efficiently
* Add player ID numbers next to player names on Players page
* Bool to disable team balancing
* If any BanServer or AutoUpdate fields are empty, then don't open the connection
* If IP policy list is full, do not attempt to add one
* Speech: change "ADD AN IP POLICY" to "ADD IP POLICY" (remove An) - Ban Control page
* Make it display sender's name when a Sort by Tag option is run, not just [ASC] tag
* (on player controller) Show if a player is banned... somehow... maybe ban control tab? Match IDs from ASC7BANLIST.INI
* Re-enable saving the maplist in client's INI (very hard on the server to have the list re-load again and again)
* (every day) Check for updates maybe every day or hour - not every match
* Small fix that checks if bFragP is on before activating it's handling functions (usually the functions themselves do this check - but now we can just not use the functions at all :P)

Open your ASC7.INI file, and look for the GameType field. If it says anything that doesn't begin with EUT_1G, you'll need to make it an EUT gametype (for instance EUT_1G.SmartCTFGame)

Which version is your server's INI attempting to run?

|KOA|The_Dave
2nd January, 2006, 09:41 PM
Yeah, make sure that the ServerActors= entry in your server's UnrealTournament.ini / server.ini is the correct version of ASC.

Also, remove SmartCTF4C from your mutators list in ASC. (EUT has a SmartCTF scoreboard integrated).

Lastly, since I see you're using BDBMapVote, make sure you have it setup correctly (set "bCTF=False" and "bOther=True" and "OtherClass=EUT_1G.SmartCTFGame").

I'm working out a new tabbing system for ASC 750. Hopefully this will make handling of info more efficient.

Level 6 User:
http://img57.imageshack.us/img57/7130/shot02350nj.jpg

Since level 6 and below can't see server-settings related tabs, they only have one row.

Level 7 User:
http://img57.imageshack.us/img57/3914/shot02349oj.jpg

Since level 7 need to easily see server-settings related tabs, the tabs split in two, with the most common functions (client, controller...) on the left, ending with advanced server settings on the right (server, boot...)

Baiter

It's ok everyone - if I must stop ASC 7 dev, I will probably start work on one to call my own, no biggie. I think I've got enough experience to do it from work on my other private modifications. As for why I've not worked on HUT with you mike, well it's simply that I prefer to work alone, you know - call the shots, that's all - it's nothing against you, nor anyone else. Honestly sad to be seeing this go :-( athos, I know you've done a lot of work on HUT, and there's a lot of cool stuff in it that I know you worked really hard on, but there's just some stuff about it I don't like. I know that HUT is technically "ASC8", but honestly, HUT compared to ASC7 is like comparing Native American-Indians to Red-dot Indians ... two totally different worlds.

To me, ASC7 is an admin tool. Allows me to get stuff done quickly without the use of console commands, plus adds functionality that doesn't even exist in normal console commands. It adds certain gameplay enhancements for players, but Matthew gives me the option of toggling them on-off really easily. Plus, ASC7 was largely developed by the whims of the people -- a lot of Matthew's additions since you turned ASC7 over to him were done specifically because KOA clan or others requested features. For instance, the ban features were because of one particular annoyance we had over at [AU] (oddly enough, though, the guy turned around and we never did ban him with it, lol).

HUT/ASC8, to me, may have some of the admin tools, but it's too big. Mapvote, stats, new remade HUD, new sounds and login screens (with the screenshots and all), admin tools, and other things I probably haven't even spotted yet. It's more like a new gaming environment than a tool; it's overwhelming, and possibly more than anyone wants. So even if ASC8 has more features and is an improvement over ASC7 at some things, some people will always have a preference towards the more simplistic ASC7. ASC7 is like "ASC8 Lite" in some ways, lol.

Anyway, I think it's a shame you see a need to kill off ASC7 just because it's seen as being more popular than your new HUT. You know I like ya, athos, but really, this was such a punk move.

dave, please read the readme before talking about hut. your whole post is wrong since hut is still in development and it is schedule to add a lot of enable/disable options (HUD,gamevote...). so don't tell everyone asc7 is the light version. plus this old version takes much ressource than the new one... and shame on you dave, you don't get what hapens. I am proud that asc7 is popular, remember I made it, now I try to code a new version and matt add stuff from the new to the old version, he is going to confuse everyone and fuck my work.
dave you were talking about my work on HUT, but it is nothing compared to the work on the 7 previous versions. I code ATH/ASC/HUT for more than 2 years now, I think you did not realise that. I just want to update my software, even if I have to disallow matt to continu, it is not you or even matt who has to say something against that. your attitude just reminds me the time when I asked admins to update strangelove to the v201, a lot were against me but now everyone use slv201...

this really starts to bother me so I am going to make it clear for everyone :
I made ASC7 and all previous versions (mattew just released it there and made it famous).
I am actually working on the version 8 (called now HUT) which is still the same but improved.
so be happy, there is no reason to whine.

athos... you just don't get it, do you? I've read the readme. I know you're planning a lot of stuff. And I know that you were the principal coder on ASC7.

However, to say "mattew just released it there and made it famous"? Sure, he released it publically, but he's done a ton of work to it that I know of, and possibly things I don't even realize, such as:
-- taking off color skins in deathmatch
-- send all / one player to different server
-- muting players
-- new ASC ID ban + AKA logging of IDs
-- admin action logging

You may have been the original coder, athos, but Matthew took over the project and ran with it and it's evolved a lot since you gave the code over to him. I know that you want to update your software, athos, but why stop Matthew from updating his software? Even if it is built on your codebase, it's evolved into a product quite different from the last time you touched the code. And to say he's stealing ideas from HUT? C'mon, maybe he simply had the same ideas, or people gave him suggestions on things to add and he's just implementing them -- and he's doing it on his own, it's not like he's stealing your code anyway, he's writing his own!

There's definitely a reason to whine: I like Matthew, I like ASC7, I like the features that Matthew has added and is planning to add to ASC7, and even though I think you're cool and a great coder, athos, I don't like ASC8 and prefer ASC7 and want to see ASC7 continue to evolve and be updated.

HUT and ASC7 aren't the same. HUT is not an update to ASC -- it's something brand new and different. You should allow each to grow on its own. Matt's not confusing anyone by having ASC7 -- people simply prefer it, you can't stand it, so you're trying to kill it. It's that simple.

I know I've been rather.. removed.. from this thread - and that was quite on purpose. All I have to say about any of this is that ASC 750's source is double of what I was given with ASC 741. To say that all I did was make it famous is kind of insulting.

And all those upset about the ASC 7's ending please stop e-mailing me - it's beginning to get on my nerves to have 10 e-mails a day about this thread...

thats all he did? it is just few lines... I coded both, don't come and tell me it is different...

Thanks to Matthew and his enhaced/modified versions your tool is also more popular now Athos.
Now all stop being so annoying saying "this was my idea" "that wasn't from him" etc, that just makes it worse for all of you.

Nerd fights.... meh

You all can argue to the end of the earth - ASC 750 will still be released and I will still make my own controller, so you people aren't really doing anything constructive, heh.

EDIT: Nevermind - All this attention has caused ASC 748d downloads to skyrocket! :D

Are you using the one provided in the ASC's zip file? Just the plain old AKA won't cut it.

Yup, I have no other. I used the one that came with asc.

AKAv6kLog_X103.u
Size 13,7 KB (14,005 bytes)

On the server I can see him doing:

*** AKA - Moving ip*.***.***.*** to the top of the LastPlayed array ip*.***.***.***, 7aed49757ef746583456eaf, date, nick.

But if I goto the AKAv6Klog.ini I see only the >> IP:nick.
