Important security update

A new server crash exploit is in the wild, therefor Epic released an supplement patch.
Everybody is strongly adviced to update their servers as soon as possible.

AnnihilatorSC 20th December, 2005 01:01 PM

Is this an official Epic release, and how can we confirm that?
Plus, does the server crash exploit "work" against the Win64 version?

plugh 20th December, 2005 01:28 PM

Is there a Mac version too?

Shambler 20th December, 2005 01:31 PM

The crash exploit works on all versions and yes this is an official Epic release. (it was posted on the UT2k4 mailing lists and all the news sites are showing it)

Yes, it's an official Epic release. It has been tested by a select few before it was made public, so it shouldn't have any (new) side effects.
Also, I posted it and therefor it's official (hint: this doesn't apply on the first of the 4th month).
If you don't trust me you are clearly visiting the wrong site :P

But I guess I could have said that "Epic released ..."

ARsEnAl51 20th December, 2005 06:32 PM

Is Epic going to release a Win64 version of this patch?

Shambler 20th December, 2005 06:44 PM

Yea there's supposed to be one soon.

Yes, added that after I said it

AnnihilatorSC 22nd December, 2005 04:17 PM

I can't relate to one thing: why aren't news like this posted on the unrealtournament.com site, and why that site in general is in shambles...?

Matthew 22nd December, 2005 04:21 PM

Indeed - the Epic and Unreal Tournament sites are basically useless at providing any good information. I needed to contact Epic about something and it took me two days to manage get an e-mail address for contacting.

elmuerte 22nd December, 2005 08:59 PM

unrealtournament.com is managed by Atari afaik.

besides... the best info comes from fan sites

Matthew 22nd December, 2005 09:27 PM

Ya I know - I just meant in general.

Oh well anyway - your 2nd point is very very true.

AnnihilatorSC 28th December, 2005 10:58 PM

Gagh! Where is that Win64 fix...

AnnihilatorSC 12th January, 2006 08:24 PM

Will there EVER be a Win64 update? Is it even needed?

Shambler 12th January, 2006 11:20 PM

www.icculus.org ??

Jovi 17th January, 2006 08:59 PM

Does this include 3369 & 3369.1 patches for Linux server? I guess it does as its around same size than those.

AnnihilatorSC 21st January, 2006 01:00 AM

I still don't understand what's up with the Win64 3369 CrashFix, and no one has yet provided a substantial answer. Is the fix needed and we must patiently await it, or is the Win64 version not affected by the exploit? It's been a month now, and still nothing conclusive.
