Can you use compression WITHOUT redirection? If so, do the files go into the same folders where the uncompressed files should be?

I don't suppose I can somehow fool UT99 into redirecting to itself (i.e. without running a separate webserver)?

I am trying to set up redirect on an extra machine I have floating around its a 2.4 gig with 512 ram with XP Pro, I installed apache web server and the folders and files show up fine.
But when my UT2004 starts to receive the files from this redirect it downloads very fast and then stops and then resumes and stops. This happens throughout the entire download, but only when others are trying to receive the file as well. If I am alone its lightning fast. Any ideas ?

I have another problem:
On my dedicated UT99 server the redirection seems to work fine for maps but .u modules are always downloaded through UT, not by redirection, even tho I compressed and uploaded the .u files exactly in the same way like the map files
and ideas?

Port specific redirection?
Is there any problem in UT2004 in specifying a port for the web server?
I have:
RedirectToURL=http://10.167.0.9:8080/
I can get to it with a web browser, but my redirect is still slow. I have set redirect up before, so, I'm pretty sure I have the other settings correct.
I have another web server on port 80 that I really don't want to mess with.
Thanks!
