Hi hopefully someone knows what im doing wrong !!

The story i have a dedicated server running on a windows ME box as far as i can tell everything is alright the server shows in the DM menu on a separate PC and connection with a ping of 50.

when i try to connect to the server it comes up with the blank screen of INDEX eg IP+/index.unr . and never get any further

Any ideas ? Please

If anyone wants to see for themselfs its running now as
SirWigWam's UT2K3 server

The reson its multihomed is the pc is a file sharer for a workstation, without this option the server setup under a generic 192.0.0.2 IP

I can see the server and a good ping ,,, just gets stuck on index.unr

can others from outside you LAN connect to the server ?

multihome is only needed when the machine has multiple IPs on the same network segment. in any other case you should not use multihome.

nope no one can connect from the net side which is my main concern.
they all get unreal//IP.IP.IP.IP/index.ut2 ? and nothing else

two other broadband users have tryed to conect and had the same results.
Strange as the Pings a Good 50ish !

would be nice to have the option of the spare playing machine linked but thats something for laters Just getting it on the Net would do for now !

i have been studying the rest of this forum for ANYTHING, there all simular but not quite ! hmmm

One thing i have just done is disconnect the LAN remove sharing ect and multihome, rebooted and it worked BUT ....... why ?

If i have the lan on with multihome off , the IP becomes 192.0.0.2 which is no good and i dont know any other way of Stoping this ??

I was hopeing that i had forgitton or messed something stupid up, you would all laugh and say Nooooo you want to do it like this But it seems Someone Ain't done there homework Epic ?? Windoze ?? Me ??

Anyway's At least i know i should be fixable and your comments and sugestions are very appreciated ! I'll keep trying

Just to finish off when 192.0.0.2 is allocated the Ping becomes N/A ?

i have tryed to connect using my "workstation" when multihome 212.la.la.la is used i cant get a ping in the DM listing but if i Enter the IP 212.la.la.la conects no problems.. but no network connections..

I was running netstat -an on the server when doing the net connections with and without the lan, there was no significant change in port allocation except obviously no lan Addr's ...>> Even when dude did manage to connect >> no difference but could ??

I hope we all do kick our selfs, and see PlayGame=False change it and laugh

#1 problem: Win ME (probably the absolute worst OS you could have chosen to host your server on)

#2 problem: post your ini and we can have a gander at it.

#3 problem: post your router make/model and what ports you are forwarding.

Connection = BroadBand(DHCP = True) 600K on SMC 10/100

Net Connection PC
PIII 1000, 512* 133 SDRAM, A HDD !, SMC Etherv PowerII 10/100, RealtekRTL8139(A) 10/100, Geforce2,
OS = Millenium Error !

From the Realtek into a CNET PowerSwitch SH-80
From there into the (my) workstation
Dual PIII 1000, 768* 133 SDRAM, 40GbHDD, SMC 10/100,

There is another PC connected to the swich 100mhz P1 but
1 its re-wired and controls a Robotic arm destined never to play unreal ! Only Work !

Yes i hate M.E. I find it Worse than 98SE.
Yes i love 98SE But its Old Hat.
I have RedHat but setting the network would take time that i dont have ! (and something i have not tryed yet).
I run XP pro ,Not willingly WinXX not dual CPU compatible.

and am considering running that up ! would RATHER NOT though (I CANT WORK solely with xp, doh)

I have a decent connection and a lot of mates hooked to unreal, I was hopeing to set them up with there own server Clan Like ! thats all ?

Will look into the file sharing aspect of WindozeME as everything seemed to work with my LAN ripped out ?

Lastly as theres a direct connection threw the 10/100 to the net AS IN a LAN ? Ports should be allocated themself dynamicly ? but when the lan's set up is unreal listening on the wrong card ? dos'nt look like it But ?

I have ZA and do try without untill its running then enabing that to be set up last ! that way you know it aint that !

But then its the N/A story ?

If i do Good Ping seen in the menus cant get past the "Screen Of INDEX" ?

i cant see why connecting the lan knocks it out ? ( by the Hmmm , wait a minute , You may know ?!?!

Change

ServerBehindNAT=False

to

ServerBehindNAT=True


Make sure you have these ports forwarded to your UT2k3 server (do this on your router): 7777, 7778, 7787, 7788, 27900, 28900, 28902, (whatever port your webadmin is bound to if you want it available from outside your LAN)

It may take a few moments for the server to appear in the master list.

I believe the problem lies with your router dear.

The stuttery performance of the server probably has to do more with running the server on Win ME than with your network and it's configuration.

When I am playing my server on my LAN, it shows as 120 ping in the browser, but plays fine (I run it on Win2k server). Ignore the ping values in the server browser, they are bullshit.

If you like, I can send you my server.ini, and a snapshot of how I have my router set up (the port forwarding). PM me your email if you want.

Well.......

I have tryed everything possible now, i am beleiving it is UT thats the Problem ,, Just installed the latest server Patch 2199 and got A General Protection Error for every time i tryed running it so BYE 2199..

Anyone else have this ?

Just to let you know what im gonna do next,

1, install UT original and see how that reacts with this setup

If that Works then installing the full game and see how that goes !

has anyone tryed these

OK i have installed UT not 2K3 on the server Lan's back with a ping if 15 but from this side cant see if the Net sides up

Can anybody who is running the original UT take a quick Look

Server name = SirWigWam's UT Server
IP just in case = 213.107.245.171

and its running DM-Gothic 1 bot !!

Would be much apreciated

I hate ME from the start, I used to use 98SE over ME.

But Uni work issues means i have to have aleast 1 machine running ME or lower,, ( XP+ ect does not allow the control interface i need . :angry: )

My main machines Dual chip so thats got XP pro, And so the server has to have ME on it unfortunatly :angry:

Whats more important Work or UT2K3

Well Xp's installed and up and running sod degree work i'll think of something ? ? HDD crash sounds good..

And Yes " you told me so" with XP running as a gateway alls fine with the world !!! Lans and net plays very well,,,

looking from the lan side the DM menu shows as NA (like i give a s***)
Plays from frav's perfectly !
