two servers on one machine
i would like to host two dedicated servers on a single machine. one server is to be used for LAN games, the other for internet games. Is it as simple as just setting the server to different ports? (ie one runs on 7777 with the webadmin on 7778 and the second server runs on 8888 with the webadmin on 8889) - or is there a trick to it?

hmm - i just tryed this exact step out. if i open location on my UT from this machine to the other (connected on LAN) 192.168.1.53 (which is the internal ip of the machine running the servers) it will send me by default to the server set on 192.168.1.53:7777. if i then open location 192.168.1.53:8888 it will not connect.
is there something im doing wrong? do i perhaps need the UT dedicated server rather than run a dedicated server from within UT itself?... or maybe two installs of UT on the machine.
any ideas

Windows example using two .bat files:
TDM.bat:
Quote:
:top
D:\UnrealTournament\System\ucc server DM-Deck16][.unr?game=Botpack.TeamGamePlus?mutator=AntiLamer.A ntiLamer,BDBMapVote304.BDBMapVote,ZPPure7E.ZP_Snip erArena port=7777 ini=unrealTDM.ini log=serverTDM.log
goto top
|
DM.bat:
Quote:
:top
D:\UnrealTournament\System\ucc server DM-Deck16][.unr?game=Botpack.DeathMatchPlus?mutator=BotPack.N oPowerups,BDBMapVote304.BDBMapVote,ZPPure7E.ZP_Sni perArena port=7788 ini=unrealDM.ini log=serverDM.log
goto top

Just put that stuff (change it to suit your needs) in two text files named something.bat and somethingelse.bat. Start the servers by clicking those files, run them from the scheduler or what ever.
You also need two ini files, one for each server. The bat files point to the right ini. Use different ports for webadmin too. Mapvote will work like normal, but Im not sure about those that use a separate ini, like x3dfx, if you need to have different map vote settings for each server you might have a problem.

does anyone know how i can have different configurations of mapvote for servers run on the same pc? perhaps i can use all versions of mapvote and load a different one per server

also is there any way to make it so that if the computer crashes - or the server does, it will reset itself?

Those two bat files will also restart the UT server if it crashes. Use the Windows scheduler to run it at system startup, that way it will restart if the computer crashes/restarts.
You can use this bat and the Windows scheduler to restart the server every night or so:
Quote:
tskill ucc
tskill ucc
tskill ucc
|
this will kill 3 servers, and then the first bat files will bring them back up.
I dont think there is a way to change the ini name for x3dfx mapvote. Maybe there is a way to have one of the mapvote ini's outside the system folder? I think Fearless has done something similar.
If you dont have to vote for mutators and stuff then just use BDBmapvote304, all the settings for that one is in the server.ini.

You cannot use server port + 1 for the web admin. Server port + 1 is allways the query port.

unrealtournament/systemFFA
unrealtournament/systemTG
also, the webadmin still isnt working - i opened the ini files and changed it to two ports after the game server ie port 7000 is the server 7001 is the query port and 7002 is the ListenPort= part of the ini files (is this not for the webadmin)... what am i doing wrong
how can i set to advertise the server using the ini and configure the webadmin to work
