Default Redirect changes the port number from 7787 to 10

I tried to setup the redirect in the UT2004.ini file. When I run it as it is, with the redirect set as http://uz.unrealadmin.org/, then my log file shows the UdpServerQuery as follows:

UdpServerQuery(crt): Port 7787 successfully bound.
I have no problems connecting, but that redirect site doesn't seem to be working. So I changed it to http://uz2.gameservers.net/ut2004/. But then my log files shows the UdpServerQuery as:

UdpServerQuery(crt): Port 10 successfully bound.
With the Port set as 10, I am unable to connect. Is this normal and all I need to do is open udp port 10 on my router?

Thanks for the reply Skillz. I realize that the gameservers.net redirect is no longer valid. I've tried using yours, http://uz.ut-files.com/, and followed the directions on your site, but when I click join it just hangs at the connecting screen. Is there some additional ports I need to open?


My redirect code looks like this:

You need to use http://uz2.ut-files.com/ for Unreal Tournament 2004. I need to make some edits to the site so UT2k4 admins will know to use the uz2 URL.

I also assume you are running Windows. Not too familiar with running UT on Windows as a server, but I do know on Linux if a port is already binded to something else, UT2k4 will go to a different port. Usually the port is just +1 of what port it wanted, with it binding to port 10 is a bit weird.

Thanks for that new redirect url. I got it working now. I guess if all else fails, start over with a fresh UT2004.ini file. So that's what I did. Not sure what it was in there that was causing that.

I do have a couple of questions though. Is it possible to use multiple redirect urls in my UT2004.ini file?

Also, the buddies that I play with would prefer to keep the maps permanently, rather then re-downloading each map every time they connect. I had them download the maps and extract each file to their respective folders within the UT2004 directory (Maps, Sounds, Static Meshes, Textures). But it still seems to try to download it again each time for them (but not for me). Not sure what could be causing this...

Change this in the ut2004.ini


[Core.System]
PurgeCacheDays=0 <- normaly 30 i think

And maps and stuff will stay in cache forever
