:O I am using ut2004 Demo and I am trying to use it as a LAN in my home. I have 2 computers networked through a Linksys DSL/Cable router. I am using cable as my internet provider. Both computers are running Win XP pro. Both Pen IV. My question is how do I set up a LAN in the home to play the game. I am also running ZoneAlarm Pro for my firewall. Please excuse my ignorance. I have looked through the forum to find some assistance but can't seem to figure this out. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Step by step in setting up the lan please.
Regards,
Arm :withstupid:

You will have to open the right ports on your firewall and router.
The default ports are:
7777 UDP/IP (Game Port)
7778 UDP/IP (Query Port)
7787 UDP/IP (GameSpy Query Port)
28902 TCP/IP (Allows your Server to Connect to the UT2004 Master Server Browser)

If all you want to do is play, then play. I also have a Linksys and didn't do anything to it. Now Zonealarm, you may have to "teach" it.

Just disable ZoneAlarm while you run the server on the LAN.

:pistol: Okay. I think I will end this post. None of you seem to be able to understand my question. Yes I can disable my firewall. But ALL of you have missed the original post. How do set it up step by step. Thanks for all of the responses but none of you have given the correct answer. Good bye!
Forum Administrator: please close this post. It's useless! :snipe:

When you open UT2k4; simply go to "host". From there you can set up your LAN game. Once that is done, open UT2k4 on the other computer(s) and browse the "LAN Games"; from there you should see the server you had set up.
