Well this is default for ut99 GOTY with Patch 436

[Engine.GameEngine]
CacheSizeMegs=4
UseSound=True
ServerActors=IpDrv.UdpBeacon
ServerActors=IpServer.UdpServerQuery
ServerActors=IpServer.UdpServerUplink MasterServerAddress=unreal.epicgames.com MasterServerPort=27900
ServerActors=IpServer.UdpServerUplink MasterServerAddress=master0.gamespy.com MasterServerPort=27900
ServerActors=IpServer.UdpServerUplink MasterServerAddress=master.mplayer.com MasterServerPort=27900
ServerActors=UWeb.WebServer
ServerPackages=SoldierSkins
ServerPackages=CommandoSkins
ServerPackages=FCommandoSkins
ServerPackages=SGirlSkins
ServerPackages=BossSkins
ServerPackages=Botpack
ServerPackages=MultiMesh
ServerPackages=Relics
ServerPackages=EpicCustomModels
ServerPackages=TCowMeshSkins
ServerPackages=TNaliMeshSkins
ServerPackages=TSkMSkins
ServerPackages=De

Or just remove the UT.ini and start the server, it will autmatically create the default UT.ini for you, and then you can know what defaults to.

Well technically thats not the default - thats the default with the bonus packs installed. the serverpackages=De for example is prone to getting the "De Package Mismatch" failure when trying to enter a server. I personally deleted that De line to make sure anyone who enters my server doesnt get a mismatch error. I know too many people with De installed that get problems, which is really strange considering its a UMOD, there must be more than one UMOD of the package going around...

Your right they should not be in Engine.Engine - when you delete the lines and try to run the game, what error do you get?

Perhaps try moving them to the correct section and then remove them when they work properly?

Also can you paste your Engine.GameEngine section in here to see please.

Hmm if your looking for the bare minimum then why dont you just uninstall, delete and then reinstall UT completely?

I assume those skins were UMODs then? because otherwise you would have put them in there yourself and then you would be able to remove them - or you would have noticed the error in the instructions and put them in the right place i assume. So why not install the skins again so that all the files are in there and go to add/remove programs because most UMODs can automatically be uninstalled, then you just check what it missed and clean it up that way.

well by looking at your ini i can tell that the only server packages i must list are:
ServerPackages=SoldierSkins
ServerPackages=CommandoSkins
ServerPackages=FCommandoSkins
ServerPackages=SGirlSkins
ServerPackages=BossSkins
ServerPackages=Botpack
these are the default game skins,these must be there to stop invisable bots from fragging the hell out of players.
the [engine.engine] stuff, hmmmm
i think i will go through and delete all the .u & .utx for those skinns maybe then i can delete the ini entry,i will try it and post agian
its just odd they ended up there.

Here's the server packages our private server originally had before I installed the bonus packs :

Code:
ServerPackages=SoldierSkins
ServerPackages=CommandoSkins
ServerPackages=FCommandoSkins
ServerPackages=SGirlSkins
ServerPackages=BossSkins
ServerPackages=Botpack
All the *skins files are the standard skin textures while botpack contains a lot of important functions and standard mutators such as Instagib.

Yea thats the default install for skins. I dont see why removing lines from the ini would cause a problem though. Its usually lines IN the ini file that cause problems if a file is named wrong or simply misplaced etc. I have never come across problems removing lines. The ini is what controls what is loaded. Are you running another program which controls the ini perhaps. I know UTStart2 allows for multiple User.ini files, but iv not heard of one for UT.ini. baffling - i cant think of a reason you are unable to remove those lines... is there no error message at all?

im running basic setup with unreal tournament and the 436 patch.
its causing a problem with booting when i delete the entrys in the [Engine.Engine] "check third post in this string for a view"
skins are not supposed to be there, and for some reason they ended up there, the game seems to not like them being removed wich is funny cuz they dont belong there, ha ha ha.

Errr.....

ServerPackages=BobaFett
ServerPackages=Dire
ServerPackages=Alice
ServerPackages=AliceSkins
ServerPackages=shibuki
ServerPackages=alienqueen
ServerPackages=ArumiSkins

Are not packages in the basic install. If they were they would be there for everyone and the problem would be well-known.

Heres an idea. uninstall it, go to the folder where it was and shift+delete that folder, to make sure everythings gone. Then do a new install. I know for a fact that BobaFett would not be in UT default install, and i have seen the Alice and alienqueen and ArumiSkins packages about in places like skincity.

Try reinstalling, or paste that in place of your engine.engine section - its mine so may not be the default but i dont see any problems with it. Just replace your personal settings, ie the gamerenderdevice etc.

[Engine.Engine]
GameRenderDevice=D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice
AudioDevice=Galaxy.GalaxyAudioSubsystem
NetworkDevice=IpDrv.TcpNetDriver
DemoRecordingDevice=Engine.DemoRecDriver
Console=UTMenu.UTConsole
Language=int
GameEngine=Engine.GameEngine
EditorEngine=Editor.EditorEngine
WindowedRenderDevice=SoftDrv.SoftwareRenderDevice
RenderDevice=GlideDrv.GlideRenderDevice
DefaultGame=Botpack.DeathMatchPlus
DefaultServerGame=Botpack.DeathMatchPlus
ViewportManager=WinDrv.WindowsClient
Render=Render.Render
Input=Engine.Input
Canvas=Engine.Canvas
CdPath=F:
RunCount=10

Have you deleted the UnrealTournament.ini, and started the game yet?
