Server Side demos are bad
Hi All,
I have a problem with the demos recorded server side.
I record with "DemoRecRemote", but I think isn't matter.
Whenever I demoplay, I see other players frozen, moving slithering, meanwhile the body is frozen.... and they died standing up....
In adding, when I choose to view from a player (behindview 0), I see only in one direction.... in other words, seems that the players look only in one direction, without turn on himself and without move up/down his "view-finder".....
Every indications is appreciated... thanks

the playerskins of the dedicated server were stripped to spare discspace. You have to use the playerskins included in the real game on your server. Just upload FCommandoSkins, CommandoSkins, Female1Skins, ... to the textures folder of your server

The problem of the frozen players is resolved (thanks Anthrax!),
but not the view from a player (behindview 0).... It was like if the player never turn himself and never move up/down his "viewfinder".... It look only in one direction always...

I dont use demos much, but I have seen stuff like this before. I think it is a fairly common problem, maybe that specfix thing would solve it.

I encountered the same problems as you and applied Anthrax's suggestion. I may be wrong but I don't think behindview 0 works on serversides. If they do, I'd be the first interested to learn how.

And that's probably why UTIII was a relative flop. New game, same sh*thead players ^^.

Usually I see my demos in UT (demoplay <etc> - in console).
I have installed the latest version of UTPure, 7G.

A curiosity....
but is there some admin that not have my same problem,
and can see server-demo in "behindview 0" without mistakes?
It's look like to be a common problem and unresolved... or I'm wrong?

The problem is the fact that you're not using demo manager.
More specific: while watching a demo the demoreader constantly reads the location coordinates and the viewrotation of the player you're watching. The location is just the location of that player in the map. The viewrotation is the direction in which the player is looking. A certain mod (might be utpure) causes the viewrotation not to be stored in serverside demos.
Why does demomanager resolve the problem? Quite simple, demomanager only reads the location data from the demo and the viewrotation gets calculated by the demo manager. This sometimes causes a quite dodgy view but at least it works.
