Yes i got people able to join my sever finally. and now if they dont have the map its on it takes a long to load it any way to speed this up?

you need to use a redirect server. here's a free one you can use,

don't know, sometimes you have to disconnect then reconnect to the server, have them try that if it's slow. if they keep having problems, might want to have them download and install the map.

yea people still downloading things slow on some maps. so yea thanks for all teh help.

also some maps are funny, you'll download them from the redirct and then they'll start to download from the server, those maps i remove from the server. you might want to check with them and see if that's happening.

yea there is some maps that take other people along time to dl its weird.
if you rent a server which i wont do, dont have money. would it dl faster?

no that won't help with the downloads. you'll want to make sure the maps are on the redirect also.

they have to be compressed and then uploaded to the redirect. read the page i linked, it'll tell you what you need to know, plus has a download to UT2003Compress which you can use to compress the files.

well most of the maps are already on the redirect server, or are put on not long after they come out, so i wouldn't worry too much about it.

what you'd need to do is download the map, then use the ut2003compress to make a uz2 file then you can upload it using an ftp program. i use ws_ftp, here's a pic of what it would look like.

you're welcome. like i said i wouldn't worry too much about the maps on the redirect server, most of them are already there or will be.

all you can do is use the redirect link i posted, most of the maps are on it already. only other thing is have them download and install the maps so they won't have to download them when trying to connect to the server.

i compress the files using ut2004mi and it places the uz2 files in the same folder the file you're compressing is in, then upload to the redirect from there.
