Lightbulb Dodge command

Hmm there has to be a way to bind dodge, or a command which will, on the press of a button, input the press, release, and then re press of a button. ie to simulate tapping.

There is a sequence of events, they dont all happen at once if you bind a button, for example:

Using the command set input <button> <command> we can put in the console: set input A adminlogin pass .This would set the button A to login to the admin using that pass whenever you press A.

If, for example, you binded adminlogin pass|say message1|say message2|adminlogout|say message3 - The events would happen in that order. First ou would login, then say message 1, then message 2, then logout and then say message 3 - all at the press of one button.

Therefore there should be a way to (if we can bind dodge to one button) also bind more dodges to that button. The bots can dodge just as they land on the ground, wheras we as players have to wait the space of two steps before we can dodge again.

The bots work under the same game engine, and so we should be able to do all they can do, so is there anyone here with an idea how i can set a button binded to dodge moves similar to those of the bots? ie dodge left and dodge right upon landing

There is a server mutator like that, it is called dodger I think.

Thats by design.

..........OR you can use what most of the guys are using..

They are using that BELKIN N52 game pad, it allows you to MACRO key binds.
You can set it up that it will actually record key stokes then you can go back & every time you press that key it will mimic that.. Guys even have it set to do SHOCK COMBOS.
I don't think that there is any place for them on public/open servers, competition is another thing {I guess }
It is my belief that if the developers of UT2k3/2k4 wanted to give you the ability to bind multiple {simulate} to 1 key they would have programmed it into the game.

In fact I wanted to config Antitcc to check for the BELKIN NOSTROMO file, for i know where it resides. Not to KICK players but just to display a message "SO-&-SO IS USING BELKIN". Also I think changing any of the settings allowing your player to jump HIGHER, DOUBLE JUMP by just depressing 1 key is questionable.

THATS just my opinion..

Also I thought that you had to add the "ONREALSE COMMAND" to those binds??

In fact i used to bond my keys to have my character TAUNT while he was playing, it actually looks kinda funny .. As your runnung around shooting you can have him/her swing the gun around in the air & stuff..

I am currently toying around with DOUBLE BINDING my keys..
I will post my results & thought's on how it worked out for me shortly..

Right now i was experimenting on CHARACTER TAUNT BIND with MOVEMENT KEYS

A short explaination of this practice is.. in your USER.INI file the keys that you use for FOWARD, BACKWARD, STRAFE, JUMP, etc.. Well, in the ini you'd EDIT IT AS FOLLOWS

my MOVEMENT key's is binded as follows

W=MoveFowards | onrelease taunt gesture_halt

S=MoveBackwards | onrelease taunt specific_1


OK the key to the DOUBLE BIND ie the use of the " | " you MUST use that to separate the ACTIONS with a SPACE BEFORE & AFTER IT, & the word "ONRELEASE"
So when the KEY is DEPRESSED I MOVEFOWARD & when i RELEASE the key i TAUNT..

This is a WHIMSICAL EXAMPLE BUT..
you can bind movements.. BUT YOU CAN NOT CREATE A DOUBLE JUMP OR DODGE.

So if you tried this BIND it WOULD NOT WORK

SPACE=Jump | Onrelease JUMP

or

W=MoveFoward | Onrelease MoveFoward

you wouldn't double jump or dodge foward.. But you can experiment with
BINDS like

W=MoveFoward | onrelease StrafeLeft

All of the double movement {except creation of dodge} binds were allowed by the UT2003 GAME, people are still experimenting to see which are ALLOWED & NOT ALLOWED by the UT2004 VERSION..

You can also bind TAUNTS like for example

J=ASSSMACK | Onrelease Taunt pt_thrust

I will also be posting ALL the AVAILABLE TAUNTS, CHARACTER SPECIFIC ANIMATION TAUNTS & MOVEMENTS,

I am still compiling my list, while trying to play, Admin the game Server, help out here, find files & BUST REVPOLAR'S BALLS..

Which is seems to be the HARDEST of my task's...
because he lives in a different timezone & our work schedules don't jive, i have to wait till 1am my time TO COMMENCE THE BALL BREAKING

Thats why i want to dodge again when i hit the ground i usually play games with relatively low amounts of dodging, i find it as predictable as bunnying if not more so. bunnys r damn hard to hit

Duh ... you're right . I should have read it a second time.

@Anthrax : you're right. I've told some guys in our clan who like playing insta or sniper to practise shooting at someone after they finish their jump/dodge. Works great.

P.S: I've managed to do some double dodges like the bots a few times by accident. No idea how this happens but, one things if for certain, those UT bots cheat O_o .

hmm i cant seem to bind the dodge to one button, did you get it working Fearless? grrrr the one chance i get to test it this morning, i had high hopes

err... i thought everyone knew that? o_O ah well, iv only been playing a few months and i was teaching people that when i started out perhaps a few of the UT admin forums people here should get their clans together for a few iCTF or iTDM games or something? with a lot of double dodging if we get this to work

Nope, I haven't gotten it to work and doubt it's supposed to unless SixtSense has a trick up his sleeve . I've been trying to do this for a while but, after some research on the net a few months ago, I came to the conclusion that Epic purposefully blocked the possibility of creating a dodge bind. Not that I need anyway now since I can dodge as I wish. As someone pointed out here, the only way possible would be to use a macro.

Well, when you're an NW player to start with you don't have the same reflexes. I mean, I'd aim whether a guy is up in the air or on the ground. It's just that in insta and sniper, this is particularly useful.

idd - i run ~/\/OC ~/\/on Official Cover which is a new clan for insta players and snipers. Hmm when iv finished the site properly il advertise here, i can assure you my clan, along with its rules, is very unique. I started off on insta when i came back to UT. (i played the game and beat it and came online to play after in 99-2000 and i had 56k , totally owned before the refresh came - hated it, but i came back when i got broadband and played instagib and i love it) i think sniper arena makes you more accurate though...

either way back to the point, i dont use gamepads, is there a macro keyboard around? or perhaps a driver you can download to do the same job, i assume its pretty simple. I just really want to double dodge in public servers, or just on my server with a small download, dodger is a big download tho

you now only press very light instead of pressing like crazy for a dodge

I dont like gamepads. I dont like joysticks either. I look at them as cheats. If I could, I would stop anyone who use them from playing on our server.
