Does the router machine or the client (utserver) run winxp? If you meant the client (ut server) was the one running win xp, what os does the router run on?

Do you use NAT or ICL to forward the ports to client (ut server).

Isn't DMZ a firewall specific term? Just curious because opening ports in the firewall is not the issue here.

This thread deals with problems running an UT server behind a windows 2000 NAT. I've heard a lot of lucky stories from people running servers successfully behind hardware and linux routers but have not yet heard anyone describe how to get it to work behing a win2000 NAT using RRAS.

Thanks for you post

I would suggest hosing Windoze as a router/NAT thingy. All you would do is SLOW yer players as well.

Get a little router thing from Dlink, Linksys even HP had one. They usualy have a small HUB/Switch built it.

..and FireWalls built in.

Hose ZoneAlarm while yer at it.

Another suggestion would be to run the Server under Linux and have YOUR comp' go thro that. Way smoother for all.

I disagree, windows don't slow anything down, a consumer hardware router though has it's limitations in number of simultaneous streams which definitely could interfere with a busy Unreal server and result in lag or packet loss.

However, that?s beside the point, the problem here lies not in the performance of the router.

Thanks anyway

My jedi outcast server has anywhere from 100-300 players per day.

Are you running Zonealarm Professional or the standard version on the gateway? Because only Zonealarm Professional supports ICS. Also do you have udp port 10777 open?
