www.somesite.com = gateway IP address. For example; AddressBar: 10.1.1.1 <- this IP won't work but is a sample only.
Gateway Address = Router configuration page.
ok , goto your router and get the exact model then post it here.
if you done what I stated above then it will also be in the configuration on the router screen.
for example is it a Linksys BEFSR11? unlikely but thats an example model.
to try yourself goto google and search for '<router-make> +<model> +forward +ports'
for example in Google: linksys +BEFSR11 +forward +ports

ping n/a
I setup a test ut2004 server on my home network, from the server list, the ping does show n/a, but for my friends outside my network they see the ping just fine. I connect to the server from my favorites list where I added my local ip:port for my server. All is working just fine, my friends and I can play on the server.
I remember in the past it used to work for me this way also.
Add your server to your favorites using your local ip:port, see if you can connect to it ok.

Seems that you are having the same problem that I am having. The problem is related to the Server Beacon, The server beacon has failed to load and should look like this in your server log.
"Warning: Failed to load 'Class IpDrv.UdpBeacon': Failed to find object 'Class IpDrv.UdpBeacon' "
"Warning: Failed to find object 'Class IpDrv.UdpBeacon' "
This is the problem that I am having, and sounds like you are having the same problem. If any one knows how to fix this please share. This has me totally stumped.

http://rapidshare.com/files/439076057/server.log my new server.log.
Still ping N/A.
Anyone knows what I am doing wrong here?
And I already succeeded in opening the ports in
my router, or atleast, I think.

try renaming ut2004.ini ut2004.ini.bak and reboot.
if it loads up it should create a new ut2004.ini
make appropriate Changes for Mapvote etc.
hope this helps.
*suspect maybe a ut2004.ini problem.

I tried it, I renamed UT2004.ini to UT2004.ini.bak, and then restarted the computer,
but no new UT2004.ini. I changed some times in the ini like the mapvoting part like
you suggested, and now I do got a MatchID, but still a ping of N/A..=/
I think it may be these 4 lines which are the problem:
Log: Resolving master0.gamespy.com..
Log: Defaulting to false
Log: Defaulting to false
Log: Resolving ut2004master1.epicgames.com...
My new server.log:

ok , lets try this;
although this is for linux , the patches are for both linux and windows , ie windows = .exe , linix = tar.gz, tar.bz2 etc.
here: http://www.dragonbe.be/index.php?mod...tournament2004
next there is a ut2004 .ini maker right here @ unrealadmin for 2k4
try this first if you like:
Code:
http://www.unrealadmin.org/modules.php?name=INI_Generator&func=ut2004
this will help you to configure the .ini ^^
I would start from scratch tbh.

Still these 4 lines:
Log: Resolving master0.gamespy.com...
Log: Defaulting to false
Log: Defaulting to false
Log: Resolving ut2004master2.epicgames.com...
The rest seems to be working except for these 4 lines.
And I also think this is the problem, I just have no idea how to fix it.

Well then I have no idea why it STILL has N/A ping.
I have tried so many things, I have opened all of the
ports manually, tried it with windows firewall turned
off, changed so many things in the UT2004.ini, and still N/A ping.
I only have Hitman Pro installed but that is only a virusscanner.
I have no idea why it still isn't working..
What am I doing wrong here?

Yes, in the LAN tab is my server + ping. I already tried connecting to it on my moms laptop but still ping N/A.
The only thing I can come up with is this:
I have only tried opening ports on my router twice.
When I added all of the ports and then click on the
save button all of the added ports just disappear.
Just like that, I have no idea why.
I only tried opening ports twice, so, I might be
doing something wrong there, I just I have no
idea what.

can you please check through your router if these ports are open;
Default port config
* 7777 UDP/IP: Game port
* 7778 UDP/IP: Query port
* 7787 UDP/IP: GameSpy query port
* 28902 TCP/IP: UT2004 Master Server Browser
* 80 TCP/IP: WebAdmin Graphical User Interface
I suspect that you may have opened the ports 7777/7778 & 27900?
you need to add 7787/28902 to the list in (this case)
if not , you need to read the help for your modem should be a page of text telling you how to configure ports for a speciffic application.
for example a sample configuration maybe .
FTP:21:TCP:ALLOW
or
FTP:21:BOTH:ALLOW
also some systems have in-bound/out-bound rules combined with TCP/UDP Traffic Types
in which case you would need to allow in both sections (in-bound) and (out-bound)
normally there is a game configuration already setup , Look for ut2k4 in the list of applications or ut1 if ut2k4 not there. add the above highlighted ports to the list and wala.
should work a treat.
also look for your server in the masterserverlist. and try connecting through there. could be a lan problem.

I already tried adding all of the ports, they keep disappearing.
And I already found a help tab, but not very useful.
And if I connect through the LAN tab it all works, but if I try and
connect through the normal server list I just get that
connection failed message and still ping N/A.
I already tried using a short tutorial on how to open ports
on a Cisco Linksys router but the ports keep disappearing.
I have no idea why..=/

ok i have been trying to run a dedicated server for about 2 weeks now ill run it and ill be able to join it when i go to ut2004.exe>join_game>LAN then i click join there but when i or anyone else tries joinin it from the main server list i cant and as the ping is says N/A
(im using windows 7)
yes i have downloaded the servercdkey.reg and when i doubleclick it it says
cannot import C:\Users\*******\desktop\UT2004_Server_CD_Key.reg the specified file is not a registry script.
you can only import binary registry files from within the registry editor
i have tried going to regedit and inserting it manually but there is already a CDKEy and when i change it i cant run ut2004 because it changes my cdkey so please help me out

if you are going through a gameserver host then these should already be open for you,
if you are using a pc from home then start reading from here
