Default Added another mode thru "Voting Game Config" Caused Endless loop of server reloading.

I was in Voting GameConfig in the Web Admin Interface, and the second i hit apply on the new mode, and it saved it to the .ini, the server went into an endless error loop.

Stupid thing didnt log the error code, but i got a screenshot of it.

Also, this is the line in the ut2004.ini i had to remove to get the server to work again (As you can see, its just the mode i added)

As far as i can tell, theres nothing wrong with that.
and theres nothing wrong with the mutators, as we have 3 other modes set up with the exact same mutator list (Instagib, Team instagib, Instagib CTF) and they all work fine.

Any ideas on why the line in the ini caused that?

Actually, i think i know what caused it.

i added some more mutators to the other modes and it happened again, so i removed another mode, just picked one at random and removed it from the ini. and it fixed it, so it seems like it has a Character limit in the .ini file for all the modes. which if you ask me is completley stupid.

Thats all it takes to put the server into an endless crash loop, so, it MUST be a character limit to that section of the ut2004.ini as i see no other cause for it.

No, it isn't caused by the character limit, which is 1024 characters per line (ca.).

My guess is that a mutator is errornous, or incompatible with any other loaded mutator or with the gametype or something like that.
Remove the mutators and try to start the server again. If the server starts, add mutators back till you found the bad one.

Or some file is missing...

Throw out PingCompensation2. You already use UnlaggedInstaGib. (And PC2 is voodoo, btw. ) Also, be a little more creative with the Acronym values. Ideally each game mode has its own acronym, like iLMS for the mode you mentioned.

Does the Mutant mode work if you remove the LMS mode? (Asking because it's in the same package.)

Basically, if i add any more modes, the server will go into an error loop.

This was happening before i got some of these mutators also, when i was using the original game mutators, and i had about anther 6 modes in there, which totaled rouchly the same amount of characters, which is the main reason why i jumped to a character limit as a cause.

also, the last man standing mode i added there which cause the server to crash loop, I can remove any of the other modes, and the LMS mode will work fine. which was another reason i blamed a character limit.

Basically, i can remove anything there, and everything else will work.

Hope people don't mind me responding to this old thread..

I found this thread, and just wanted to confirm this happens on my linux server as well, it definitely is a character limit within the Voting GameConfig section of the .ini.

4234 characters works

I heard about a similar problem in relation to [Engine.Accesscontrol] IPPolicies. [xVoting.XVotingHandler] GameConfig is added to the so-called "PlayInfo", a structure used to make configurable properties available to the GUI and webadmin interface. Apparently the PlayInfo only supports a limited data size and will break down if a property contains more data. The only real fix would be excluding the GameConfig property from the PlayInfo, which requires a code fix. Such a fix could either be provided as recompiled xVoting.u or as a custom voting handler class.
