Hmm, not really, but according to the author of UTGLR it might be possible to compile most of its code on Linux however it would be quite tricky and nobody has even tried ... and I'm not gonna try it either, it would require installing GCC 2.9 which is quite an antiq.
However, there are two things which you can improve, as you probably noticed UT is using SDL for all the input stuff and also there's an SDL renderer, you can make UT use a newer SDL than the standard one distributed with UT, just look at my libSDL in UT/System:
Code:
unimatrix System # ls -al /opt/unreal-tournament/System/libSDL*
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root root 24 Nov 6 13:59 /opt/unreal-tournament/System/libSDL-1.1.so.0 -> /usr/lib/libSDL-1.2.so.0
Do you catch it ? You can just delete the old libSDL-1.1.so.0 and make symbolic link or just copy a recent version to match the old name, it works
Second, edit you ~/.loki/ut/System/UnrealTournament.ini and look for [SDLGLDrv.SDLGLRenderDevice], there's an OpenGLLibName setting, you can point it to the recent Nvidia's OpenGL lib, like I have:
Code:
[SDLGLDrv.SDLGLRenderDevice]
....
OpenGLLibName=/usr/lib/libGL.so
OpenGL works much better on Linux than on Windows

Hey rush, you're saying to delete that lib file, and just reference it like you have up there? I was real busy when I saw this so I took the easy way out and downloaded the so file and edited the ini for ogl. I'd like to try the sdl fix later on.

Well, maybe not delete, rename it for backup, and just make a symbolic link as I showed. And that UTGLR for Linux works great, there was only a slight bug with bMultiTexture, UT crashed when I started it in window mode, got into practice session-Deck16 and then toggled fullscreen, heh, and only this way. Ah and there's a weird behavious with Gamma correction, it seems that it is set to 0.5 if it is set to 0.0, set it to -0.5 to make 0.0.

Does anyone else have problems with maps crashing UT to the desktop in Linux? Specifically AS-Golgotha and AS-Autorip and maybe others.

Maybe they would crash, but I would have to first download these maps, and since redirrection is fucked up by loki there's no way I'm gonna wait 10 minutes for a single map :F

Redirect doesn't work with using Loki version for a server?

Autorip requires a crashfix to work. It's called AutoRip.u, try to get it somewhere (utassault.net perhaps)

Yes, I have UT crash to my desktop a bit. Then I have to connect to a different server before I can go back to the one I was on. Quite odd.

Okay, I still don't understand the first part you were talking about at all, making a symbolic link or whatever. Make how?
Secondly, I just looked, and I'm not using OpenGL, so I made sure my ini file showed what the link showed, then made sure I had Chris' renderer, and I get this silliness:
Code:
Log: Opening SDL viewport.
Warning: Failed to load 'OpenGLDrv': Can't find file for package 'OpenGLDrv'
Warning: Failed to load 'Class OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice': Can't find file for package 'OpenGLDrv'
Warning: Can't find file for package 'OpenGLDrv'
Log: Can't find file for package 'OpenGLDrv'
Here's from my ini file:
Code:
[Engine.Engine]
GameRenderDevice=OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice
WindowedRenderDevice=OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice
RenderDevice=OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice
AudioDevice=ALAudio.ALAudioSubsystem
NetworkDevice=IpDrv.TcpNetDriver
DemoRecordingDevice=Engine.DemoRecDriver
Console=UTMenu.UTConsole
Language=int
GameEngine=Engine.GameEngine
EditorEngine=Editor.EditorEngine
DefaultGame=Botpack.DeathMatchPlus
DefaultServerGame=Botpack.DeathMatchPlus
ViewportManager=SDLDrv.SDLClient
Render=Render.Render
Input=Engine.Input
Canvas=Engine.Canvas
But the renderer is in ut/system. I even dropped on in ./loki/system just for the schmeck of it .
What gives? It's there, but UT can't find it.

Code:
rush@unimatrix ~ $ ls -al /opt/unreal-tournament/System/OpenGL*
-rwxr-x--- 1 root games 595 Nov 1 22:50 /opt/unreal-tournament/System/OpenGLDrv.int
-rwxr-x--- 1 root games 240784 Jul 5 2005 /opt/unreal-tournament/System/OpenGLDrv.so
-rwxr-x--- 1 root games 114128 Nov 1 22:50 /opt/unreal-tournament/System/OpenGLDrv.so.old
rush@unimatrix ~ $
Code:
rush@unimatrix ~ $ cat .loki/ut/System/UnrealTournament.ini |grep GameRender
GameRenderDevice=OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice
About the symlink to SDL, this command should do it:
Code:
rush@unimatrix ~ $ ln -s /usr/lib/libSDL-1.2.so.0 /opt/unreal-tournament/System/libSDL-1.1.so.0

I get that too so It's probably a loki bug.

Doh, run that from the command line, okay.
I did play around with my settings last night, and I got ut looking a lot brighter than normal (it's awfully cloudy and blue), but it was choppy.
I'll try that in a while and see what happens, thanks.

Check that your agp aperture size in the bios is at least 128MB.

Oh, not those, I was playing with the renderer settings in the ini file, but good catch. It's all good there.
