Default UT3 Linux Dedicated Server Ini files location

I was wondering, where those Ini files are located, that actually get used by the Server Process. There are thousands of INI files all over the place, and last but not least, there is a hidden folder in the ~/ Directory of the user, that you used for starting the Linux Dedicated Server Binaries.

e.g. If you used a user named ut3, and that user had it´s home directory at /home/ut3, there would be a Directory called /home/ut3/.Unreal Tournament 3.

In that directory there would be two subdirectories named Binaries (which is empty) and UTGame, which has two subdirectories in it called Config and Logs.

So the main question is, what is it about those INI-files in /home/ut3/.Unreal Tournament 3/UTGame/Config/

Are they used somewhere, and if yes, what is their purpose?

At UIE we've set our ut3's homedir to be the install path (ok, extraction path) of the UT3 demo itself, so any ini's will always be located in the UT3ROOT/UTGame/UTConfig directory.

It depends. Normally, the server uses the files in ${HOME} but you can pass the -nohomedir option to make it use the ones in the install path instead.

Try this for example:

./ut3demo server DM-HeatRay?MaxPlayers=8?Spectators=5?MinNetPlayers=0? bShouldAdvertise=False?bIsDedicated=True?goalscore =0?game=UTGame.UTTeamGame?timelimit=20 -nohomedir -login=USER -password=PASS

the '-nohomedir' can be the solution.

If your user is ut3 then look in the folder:

/home/ut3/.utdir <= A point + dir , ut create this folder and write the log's in that. You couldn't see the folder with your ftp programm. Use a console programm to see it like mc , ls , a.s.o. .
