running two lan-servers on one local machine - possible?
is it possible to run two dedicated lan-servers on one local machine? i know, both servers would have the same ip, but maybe there's a way to solve that problem by using different ports or something like that.
thanks for the answer. another question: my pc has an athlon 2800+ and a gig of ram. how many players can it handle? is there anything i can lookup to find out if i can handle for example two 16-players-servers?
number of players depends on the type of game. ONS map is CPU intensive compare to deathmatch and CTF. You should be able to run 10-12 players for each game with your athlon 2800. I'm serving 20 players with an Intel 1.2 with 384 ram but the CPU runs at 90-100%. Players seem to be happy and no apparent lag. Server stays full during peak playing time.
I changed my .ini default port from 7777 to
Port=8888
You may have to change this setting from True to False in order to run the second UCC
bRestartServerOnPortSwap=False
i know it is possible to run more than one server from the same install, and it is also possible to seperate .u's (like mapvote) and in the server's ini set a second path to .u files, but some of these .u's require .ini's and i havent figured out how to place them in a diferent folder other than the system folder of the server. is this possible? if so how?
