Sliding Players DM-Phobos

when i join from my computer to the server box and switch the map to DM-Phobos i get the Sliding Players issue but i installed the textures from the real utcd1 and not the cd2 textures, on my computer i have the s3tc textures installed and then 3 of the 4 utrp packages though i didnt do that thing they said because i thought the Sliding Players thing was a server problem. i could patch the client but it would be better if i could fix the server first and then patch the client.

Sounds like you have the S3TC textures installed on the server which is always a no-no. Are they on the server?

i dont think they are, i dont remember installing them.
cause i downloaded the s3tc server package from here to make sure i had the right textures.

You should be able to see if they are s3tc by their size. For example DecayedS is something like 60MB.

as far as i know it isn't limited to just loading it on the server.

the texture sizes you listed are normal, but if you have the high res textures on your pc players will continue to slide unless there is a fix somewhere for this.

To fix the server it's simple. Upload the textures from your install cd.

It would not matter what is in the list. If you over-write the textures on the server with the ones from UTCD1 then any and all S3TC textures would be over-written.

S3TC textures should never be on the server. The fix you are looking for is client side only. It does work perfectly now so re-do the whole player install if needed but make sure that the server texture files are from UTCD1 first. Then you need to make sure the redirected files are copies of the new server files too.

well i think the server is fine now cause i experienced sliding players on some assault server and those maps worked fine when i connected to my server but it appears i should look for the client fix so that i can play on all servers without problem

ive been lazy again oops, anyway i tried that and it patched one texture but there havent been any players on the particular server i had sliding on so i havent been able to check it easily
