Speed Hack in 99, anybody got a cure?
Hi, I'm here as a supplicant. It seems that the speed hack is becoming more and more common in ut99, with nothing in place currently to stop it. I tested it on our server, which is running Pure6E+NBSH 1.07 and the security packages never even hiccuped. Is something available? Or failing that, can something be done? I've seen an increase in threads like this one:
http://www.unrealadmin.org/forums/showthread.php?t=7494
lately and I've personally encountered what I believe were "speeders" more often recently. I believe this is a growing problem that is crying out for attention.

I think the latest UTPure checks for this in some way but the recent changes do cause problems with some custom maps.

I cant use the latest unfortunately, we use the Zark and 7E completely screws it up. I was hoping maybe a small serveractor that can run with the other security packages. Of course maybe one of the rifle makers will come up with a rifle that will run correctly under 7E.

custom maps(I use the phrase custom litely.) should not utilize the timedilation variable for an extension of map info being displayed.

I agree ... but how many custom maps out there do this ? The Truff's community must have dozens of maps like these seeing the posts about people getting kicked or banned with the introduction of the new UTPure.
What do you suggest ? Getting someone who knows how to use UEd to spend some time changing these 'faulty' maps ? How should the maps be named ? Should they keep the original name or should the map have a suffix of some sort ?

Nope tried it, you can waltz right past 7E with the hack running. I was sure hoping.

More accurately there are rifles made to run with Pure. Check around at UTZC forum to find out which rifle(s) run with which Pure.

Isn't it possible to simply compare the TimeDilation values between Server and Client rather often (inside a Tick, for example, because its not much code) ? Or is the problem that some maps change the TimeDilation value on the client side, while it remains static on the server's side ? That doesn't make much sense in my eyes, but that's how I got some of the previous postings.
Excuse my naive question, but I have never actually seen any of those speed hacks.

That pretty much is what's done, through tick. (as far as I've seen anyway)
Some maps do have a modified TimeDilation settings which messes with things..that just makes it more awkard for the person coding the protection.
