Default Tickrate and Netspeed?!?!

Hi All,
Just want to ask the opinions of fellow admins. ( Am I a real live admin yet? I can change maps from the console !!!)
I am renting a server and was wondering what reccomended netspeed and tickrate would be on the server. There is a little info of the server itself, below.
I read the netspped tutorial and adjusted my tickrate to about 30 (this only an 8 man server.) My netspeed is 6400 (Because i am a N0oB I assumed this is AKA Configured internetspeed (correct me if I am wrong.)
I had a player on the sever last night with a f1 ping in the 100's as high as 200 sometimes, but they would not even tell me what state they were in, so I cannot base why his ping sucked, he may have been in UGANDA for all I know. Also the F1 Ping is usually around 30-60 on my computer and f6 is 100-129. The server is based in Texas and I am in florida. I have gotten compliments on having a nice server but I want to hear I have a badass server and it to always be full. Thanx in advance

Windows based
Dell PowerEdge 2650 rackmount servers dual Xeon processors and over 2 GB of RAM on each server

[IpDrv.TcpNetDriver]
AllowDownloads=True
ConnectionTimeout=12.000000
InitialConnectTimeout=60.000000
AckTimeout=1.0
KeepAliveTime=0.200000
MaxClientRate=10000 <= set to 10000 if this is a rented server. This firgure is the number of bytes sent to and from the client.
SimLatency=0
RelevantTimeout=5.000000
SpawnPrioritySeconds=1.000000
ServerTravelPause=12.000000
NetServerMaxTickRate=30 <= Set this to 20 if you're sure this is on a Windows server.
LanServerMaxTickRate=20
MaxConnPerIPPerMinute=2
LogMaxConnPerIPPerMin=True
AllowPlayerPortUnreach=True
LogPortUnreach=False
SendSizeMult=1.000000
RecvSizeMult=1.000000
OverrideBufferAllocation=False
MaxDownloadSize=0
DownloadManagers=IpDrv.HTTPDownload
DownloadManagers=Engine.ChannelDownload

Console commands :

admin set IpDrv.TcpNetDriver NetServerMaxTickRate 20
admin set IpDrv.TcpNetDriver MaxClientRate 10000

Unlike other settings these seem to take effect immediately. What you're looking to do is get the lowest F6 pings possible while having a stable packets/s i/o and no packet loss. Long distance players will sometimes benefit from higher tick rates.

Where do you see that I'm stopping 56 K and ISDN players getting on the server :p ? MaxClientRate is what it says : the maximum speed that the server will send info. I've seen MinClientRate but I'm not sure if it works on UT.

MinClientRate does work, and it will force 56k and ISDN users to time out when connecting to the server.

Well, I did set it to 2000 (to avoid people switching to below that value and make themselves hard to hit). The respective netspeeds of 56 K and ISDN are 2500 and 5000 standard, so I guess they can enter no problem.

If you want a gameplay to be smoother set tickrate to higher values, like for example 27 or 35. 35 is a default value for LAN games. However if you use tickrate 35 you should set netspeed to minimum 11000 according to TNSe's tickrate/netspeed tutorial, however on my servers players use even netspeed 5000 and it is ok.

One thing you need to make sure of is that its not against the terms of service agreement you agreed to when renting your server. Dont want to see anyone loosing their server over it.

yea ILAN sets the max netspeed to 8000, and tick to 20. sucks....makes the server laggy....

I got maxclient rate at 20,000 and tickrate to 35. Works great! on the more busy servers it's at 30.
