I have followed the how-tos on this site and finally got my dedicated server up and running. It even shows up on the main ut2003 server browser. The only problem is that when I try to join the game it just shows my ip address where it's trying to connect. Nothing happens, it just times out. Can anyone please help me here? And if you can explain on a how-to like basis that would be great because im new to the server stuff.

I got it to work

when you go under the ut2003 server listings it show my server "master7", but when I click on it it shows"
unreal://65.31.169.55/index.ut2 This is the wrong address

I have found the the right address for me is:
unreal://192.168.0.5/index.ut2 and it works!!

But now does anyone know how to change the address that shows up in the ut2003 sever browser to somthing else like the address that actually works??

192.168.*.* is a private IP network and not a valid Internet address. What this means is that you have a Network Address Translating (NAT) router between you and the Inet. Anyone outside the router sees (and needs) the Internet IP (65.32.269.55). Anyone inside the router needs to use the internal IP (192.168.0.5).

Bottom line is: You want/need the outside address to be published via the master server so external folks can connect. For you personally, just add the internal IP to your favorites and connect to the server that way. (or look for it via the LAN servers tab and get a big ping advantage...)

Hey thanks a lot that helps me out a lot! That helps me so much! But know how do I know if people can actually connect to my server? So far I have never seen one person try to access it. By any chance if its not a problem could someone try it out for a few seconds and tell me if it works? The server is called “Master7” here’s the address:
unreal://65.31.107.155/index.ut2
I’m also having some more problems but right now I’m just excited to get my server up and finally running. Thanks!

When i click your link it says 'connection failed' is this the problem you had, or is your server not constantly online?

I'm at work, so can't test if you're server works, or is even up. But if you're on a NAT'd address, have you reflected this in you server ini?

IE

[IpDrv.MasterServerUplink]
DoUplink=True
UplinkToGamespy=True
SendStats=True
ServerBehindNAT=True <-This is the important bit
DoLANBroadcast=False

It's ut2003.ini unless you've used a different one....
