I may be way off base here, but let's not forget that Code Red is out there chewing up bandwidth. At my office we have NO IIS web servers (all are linux boxes) so we are not susceptible to INFECTION. However, my firewall logs show a huge number of attempts to get to port 80 on machines throughout my Class C. On Aug 4th there were nearly 5000 attempts. By Aug 9th it was up to 15000 per day. This is causing issues for everyone - whether a game server or something else.
Just a possible explanation.
