ServerExt version 109
Well, the ServerExt bugtracker was a success. Thanks to the reports I could nail down some issues here and there and add a couple of minor features.
Version 109 contains a lot of performance fixes and bug fixes. I've also put in some effort to increase the compatibility with UT2Vote.
You can get version 109 here: .zip, .ut4mod.
Documentation can be found on UnrealAdminWiki

Thank you very much! All this most appreciated. I'll be loading this to 5 servers in the morning when nobody's around.

Looking really good so far. Thanks!
I remembered a minor bug in the reserved slots so reported that.
Question for you: Silent admin login - is this something that can be optional on a per-login basis? ie. Normally we would want to log in visibly - but only occasionally log in silently. If so - what is the syntax?
eg.
Atcc Silent: Mutate SilentAdminLogin username password
Normal: adminlogin username password

Fixed a performance issue in the ChatFilter bad name checking [BT#11]
|
Has the performance hit during name checking been an issue in versions earlier than 108 ?
I'm running an older version of ServerExt and was holding off upgrading due to the possible minor headaches of having to sort out the RSS side of things again. I use chatfilter and the local rss feed options currently. We've always had some player join lag but hadn't thought of it being ServerExt. (No server cpu side stats access) I used to blame utan ban checks suppose i should just spend the time and update.... thanks for your work on this by the way - great server side admin tool.

Yes, there were a couple of performance issues. It may not have been noticable on the server. But profiling the code clearly showed bad performance for a couple of things.
Also it has been made easier to manage local rss feeds from the webadmin.

Brilliant. Our ONS server is back to being a solid rockin joint but hard not to notice the drop in players in the the overall NA ONS community. To have you (and Wormbo) still kickin these mutators around, gotta say, makes my life awfully nice and is immensely appreciated.

PS: Old long-gone admin of ours hacked an earlier version of your chatfilter that if triggered, replaced the entire line of text entered by the player with *just* the filter replacement word. Never worked after December-ish 2004 - my bet is something got tweaked in a newer revision - I ain't got teh l33t code chops (which is to say I have none) - love to see this back in (and seems like a simple thing) - I still have the .u file - anything you'd want to gander at?

+1. The lag complaints on our 32p Onslaught server have completly stopped. Piglet mentioned that there was a bug in the former ServerExt that caused additional stress to our server, so it seems you got us back on track. Thank you thank you THANK YOU E.M!

yes it's worth it, is saves you CPU cycles. Some parts have been greatly improved (performance wise, specially chatfilter with nick checking enabled).

Was looking at adding the reserved slots function to the server. Looking through the readme and wiki docs i don't see anything about what is displayed to the person who gets removed. Is it just a generic game kick message ? or is there a specific message given to the removed player ? I can see folks getting pissed off because they were kicked with no warning or explanation. Just using the expand option for now.

Can't get "ServerAdsSE like messages" to work.
I'm trying to display messages during the game to players, but I can't get it to work yet. I must admit I really don't know anything about RSS. I believe I have followed the instructions exactly, but sometimes I am too exact. :-) Anyhow, here is what I've done so far.
These files are in the /System folder:
ServerExt.int ServerExtClientA.int ServerExtClientB_2.u
ServerExt.u ServerExtClientA.u ServerExtOL.u
ServerExt.ucl ServerExtClientB_2.int ServerFilters.ini
These entries are in the UT2004.ini file:
[TeamGO RSSFeedRecord]
rssEnabled=True
rssUpdateInterval=0
ChannelTitle=Custom entries
Entries=(Title="Remember: Let spawners hide.")
Entries=(Title="Please read the rules at: http://www.team-go.com/rules.htm")
Entries=(Title="Please: NO RUN & GUN. This is a sniping server.")
Entries=(Title="Don't follow people while spawning. Use the time to hide!")
[ServerExt.MutRSS]
bEnabled=True
bAnnounce=True
sExlusiveFeeds=
BrowserPortal=%clientpackage%.RSSBrowserPortal
BrowserMenu=%clientpackage%.MutRSSBrowser
WebQueryHandler=ServerExt.RSSWebQueryHandler
bBroadcastEnabled=True
fBroadcastDelay=60.000000
bInitialBroadcast=False
BroadcastMethod=BM_Sequential
iBroadcastMessages=2
iGroupSize=1
sBroadcastFormat=%title% [%ftitle%]
bInteractive=True
bBrowserEnabled=True
bUpdateEnabled=True
iDefUpdateInterval=45
RSSFeedRecordClassName=%clientpackage%.RSSFeedReco rd
I am running this as a mutator in UT2Vote51, i.e. mutator=ServerExt.MutRSS.
I can see the mutator in the WebAdmin. But, I never get any messages. Can someone tell me the part I've left out?
Thanks,
[GO]Doc

There's a space at the end of your paste. Not sure if that's it.

Or did you create the rss.ini to put in the system folder ? Just take the section below out of your ut2004.ini and paste it in a seperate document called rss.ini and plunk it in your system folder.
Quote:
[TeamGO RSSFeedRecord]
rssEnabled=True
TextColor=(B=255,G=255,R=255,A=0)
rssUpdateInterval=0
ChannelTitle=TeamGO
Entries=(Title="Remember: Let spawners hide.")
Entries=(Title="Please read the rules at: http://www.team-go.com/rules.htm")
Entries=(Title="Please: NO RUN & GUN. This is a sniping server.")
Entries=(Title="Don't follow people while spawning. Use the time to hide!")

It worked! Thanks.
Thanks for the help. The rss.ini in /System worked just fine. :-)
Thanks again.

Time message displays?
Ok. I thought of one more question: Is there a way to set the time the RSS message displays on the screen? It seems to be there about 2.5 seconds and I'd like to extend that if possible.
Thanks again,

No I think that item is fixed with the standard chat display timer.
( or alternatively - i don't know that it's possible to change it. )
Something else you can do to make the messages stand out more from the regular player chat is to change the font color. It draws their attention. You can do that in your rss.ini by adding a text colour line. I use white. I edited the rss.ini section in the above post for an example.
