Default Epic is IP Range Banning

Epic is now IP range banning. If you happen to be on an ISP that a botter uses, you may be affected.

Be warned. Just pray that a botter doesnt share a similar IP to you!

Don't believe me? Ask DrSiN

I'm sure if this is true, it will only be in the most extreme cases.

They wont go about banning every ip range that a cheater uses.......then there would be no more players left and UT and epic would be out of business.

No worries little one.

Although I think banning HelioS' Range is a great idea,

from what i hear, cheaters will soon be starting a campaign to get as many masks banned as possible
peeps that are trojaned, playing from diff friends and or relatives houses with different isps
eventually, this tactic will backfire on them when half of america or the world is ip banned

There's no proof in that thread. In fact, it's more proof that Epic doesn't ban on IP.

You can always cheat and get caught by Epic. If they ban your IP block, post that info here and boy, will we have egg on our faces!

No, I think your trolling.
It says
Quote:
ip gets blocked
, no where does it say
Quote:
ip RANGE gets blocked
.
There is a HUGE differance between blocking an IP and blocking a range.
And while we are on the subject, you do know that a "range" can be as little as 3 IPs in a row? Nowhere in the whole 4 posts there did I see anything about blocking a subnet, which would effect more people.
Please understand what you are talking about before making such wildly inaccurace posts.

this is only one of the affected parties.....

(starting numbers removed)
removed.removed.removed.41
removed.removed.removed.80
removed.removed.removed.112
removed.removed.removed.140
removed.removed.removed.152
removed.removed.removed.211
removed.removed.removed.247
and anything else in that last 255 range that he uses

its instant, soon as master server sees the first 3 sets of numbers it generates a kick from the server

now go eat crow

As was said, where is the proof to back up your claims?
So far you have done nothing but make claims without any facts to back them up. If Epic is banning whole subnets, we would be interested to know, but no one is going to just take your word for it. Again, where is the prooof of this?
BTW, If what you siad above is true, then it's only 255 IPs. And since you said any that "he" uses, sounds like you know someone who was blocked. It also sounds like he has access the the entire subnet. If that's the case, then Epic should block the entire subnet.
Now if you have nothing to hide, give us the whole IP address so we can do a reverse lookup and see who owns that range. I have a very strong feeling that those 255 IPs all belong to one orginazation, and I bet if we looked them up we would find nothing but botters. Now, prove us wrong. Give us the IP that you claim was blocked.

They ban a whole range.
your ip happens to be within that range
your banned for no reason ,
he would like you to let him know.
thats what it says and they are doin it.
he says he knows who hes targeting but its only stopping the legit players
that had thier ip blocked because epic banned a whole range of ips.
i could care less either way but yes it is true.

believe it or not.. ive been "range" banned, and can no longer play ut2k4.i guess cutting off legit player isnt something epics concerned about.. they already have the $$$ who gives a fuck about the players..and the statement made by War_Tourist about not having received any emails to [email address] is completely false... just a warning, the 2k4 community is slowly dieing sux we got pricks running shit..

WOW! You just registered a few minutes ago and this is the VERY FIRST time you posted. In this very relevant thread too!

Holy coincidence! What's the odds that you were just affected by this rumored dragnet and came straight to this post discussing it?

edit: man.. it's just incredible that people are coming out of the woodwork to testify, but there's nothing concrete to support any of these claims.

from most of your responses it would seem to the casual observer that even if a representative from epic where to come here and tell you that they in fact are banning subnets, you would still deny its happening

man u guys are sad

i can guarantee you this, one day soon epic will spill the beans and confirm what we are saying
when that happens, and it will, u go right ahead and deny it cause that just makes you look more foolish and we get to laugh about it

this thread has become very amusing
thanks for the laughs guys!
