[UT2004/Beta] Mercury Missiles 2
I never officially released this for UT2004, which is a shame considering the fun I had/have testing it.
With the Mercury Missiles mutators you have a rocket launcher that shots high-speed rockets and has a configurable zoom feature. The rockets even accelerate after being fired and can penetrate opponents once they reached a certain velocity.
There are five different mutators available in Mercury Missiles 2: - Mercury Missile Arena - A configurable Mercury Launcher Arena mutator
- Mercury Missile InstaGib - InstaGib mode, not allowed in Assault or Onslaught
- Mercury Missile WildFire - WildFire mode, for Excessive Overkill fans
- Mercury Missile Launcher - Only the Rocket Launcher is replaced
- Mercury Missile Sniper - Sniper Rifles and Lightning Guns are replaced

Well, it's my first time playing using the Mercury Missile and I think its a simple addition, but its pretty cool (especially the auto zoom). I only had a chance to play with bots but I can't wait to play against real people when I get our 2nd server fully configured . Maby I'll even get a chance to play against Wormbo some day in Mercury Missile Arena
Only played it for 20 minutes or so cause I have to go to bed soon, but no problems so far.

I just decided that I'll backport Mercury Missiles 2 to UT2003. The UT2003 version will include all features of the UT2004, except for the vehicle support. (headshots against drivers, allow linkgun for vehicle gametypes in arena modes)
That shouldn't matter since UT2003 doesn't have any vehicles or vehicular gametypes anyway, so the two versions will be basically identical.

Was fun - but 4 of the 5 people playing this got crashes in the first round we played.
Looping sounds - no way out - had to hard-shutdown and reboot.

Ugh, that sounds like a problem I ran into when I tested another mutator. The cause was a vector divided by 0 and used as an actor's location. That shouldn't actually be possible here. o_O
Weird. I'm not sure what causes this, but it only seems to affect network clients that see a mercury missile hitting a player.

I found the problem. It was a stupid bug, actually. (Setting a float variable inside an if block and relying upon the variable being > 0 outside the block, which works only offline and on a server.)

Beta 3 is available.
New features include air-hit announcement, a rocket jump boost option, an improved Double Damage firing sound (the one from UT2003) and a new mesh for the Mercury Missiles.

I've uploaded Mercury Missiles 2 beta 3 to my clans 2nd server if anyone is intrested. It's not on by default but you can vote for it via ut2vote
